# A world-premiere play about the historic city of champions.

Written by DeAsia Paige
Directed by Kathryn Bentley

Shakespeare in the Streets is a theatrical experience that combines the history of one St. Louis community with a Shakespeare play.

This year’s project honors the historic East St. Louis neighborhood. Known as the City of Champions, it’s home to Olympic Gold Medalist Jackie Joyner-Kerse, jazz legend Miles Davis, global dance phenomenon Katherine Dunham and many more artists, poets, and athletes.

The new play will be inspired by stories of people of ESTL, and performed on stage in the streets in September 2025. This event is free. The website calendar shows that this even runs from 8AM - 5 PM, Friday - Sunday. So, I'm not sure WHEN the play will be performed? Also, I'll be unable to attend this, as we'll be out of town. So I'm posting this, basically to get the information out here. Would love for someone to let me know how it goes?
