Meet: We will meet in the First Landing State Park 64th Street boat launch area parking lot at the end of the park access road, near the restrooms, by 9:15 AM to sign in and register for the hike. The hike will start at 9:30 AM. Last year, there was no fee to enter the park on New Year’s Day. The restrooms located at the boat launch are the only facilities available in this area of the park.

We will be hiking approximately 7 miles on the Cape Henry, Long Creek, and Osprey Trails, and returning on the Cape Henry Trail. At 9:30 AM, we will proceed to the trailhead located in the Narrows area near the boat launch area to start the hike. You can expect primarily flat trails except for parts of the Long Creek Trail, where there are some rolling hills. You will be walking through coastal forests on all trails, especially the Long Creek Trail, and have some great views of the bay while on the Cape Henry and Osprey trails.

We will probably hike rain or shine, cold or warm, but we will announce cancellation of the hike by 8 pm on Dec. 31st on the sign-up sites.

Please bring/wear appropriate clothing for the weather, hiking boots, water, snacks, and/or lunch. We may make plans to eat out after the hike.

This hike is leashed dog (and poop scooped) friendly!
