Samen met Fontys ICT Tilburg organiseren we weer een inspirerende XXL-editie van de Tilburg Tech Tuesdays, waar vooraanstaande developers the latest and the greatest uit het werkveld met je delen. Topsprekers dus. Lekker eten en drankjes. En een heleboel collega-developers. Wat wil je nog meer? ;-) Geloof ons: hier wil je bij zijn. Break-out sessies, opening en afsluiting:
De break-out sessies hebben verschillende thema’s, zodat er voor iedereen iets interessants tussen zit. Je hoeft je niet vooraf aan te melden voor een sessie. Je kiest jouw break-out gewoon bij aankomst op het event. Daarbij geldt: wie het eerst komt, wie het eerst maalt. Dus wees er op tijd bij om jouw favoriete sessie te volgen!

• Opening: Leon Schrijvers – Trustworthy Evaluation of LLM Systems (EN)
  Hoe weet je of een LLM-systeem écht goed werkt? Losse tests laten vaak wel zien dát er iets misgaat, maar niet waarom of hoe je het structureel kunt verbeteren. Leon laat zien hoe je grote hoeveelheden AI-output analyseert, terugkerende fouten ontdekt en deze vertaalt naar meetbare kwaliteitscriteria. Ook behandelt hij hoe je LLM’s kunt inzetten als beoordelaar en hoe je controleert of hun beoordelingen betrouwbaar, consistent en in lijn met menselijke experts zijn. Een onderzoeksgerichte én praktische opening over transparantere evaluatie van generatieve AI in echte toepassingen.
• Break-out 1: Danny van der Sluijs – Open Source Software from a maintainers perspective (EN/NL)
  Open source gebruiken is eenvoudig, maar wat komt er kijken bij het onderhouden van een succesvol project? Danny neemt je mee achter de schermen van het werk van een open-sourcemaintainer. Hij bespreekt veelvoorkomende uitdagingen, de samenwerking met gebruikers en contributors en de hulpmiddelen die GitHub biedt. Je leert hoe je repositories zo inricht dat anderen eenvoudig kunnen bijdragen, hoe je duidelijke processen maakt voor issues en pull requests en hoe je zaken als documentatie en sponsoring goed organiseert.
• Break-out 2: Matthias Noback – DDD and Your ORM (EN/NL)
  Je wilt een complex datamodel opschonen met Domain-Driven Design en duidelijke grenzen creëren tussen verschillende onderdelen van je domein. Maar je ORM denkt vooral in entiteiten en relaties en trekt zich weinig aan van Bounded Contexts. Matthias laat zien welke praktische problemen ontstaan wanneer DDD-principes botsen met de manier waarop frameworks en ORM’s je datamodel behandelen. Je maakt kennis met centrale DDD-concepten, ontdekt waar grenzen onbedoeld vervagen en krijgt concrete oplossingen om je domeinmodel toch beheersbaar en onafhankelijk te houden.
• Break-out 3: Ruben Steins – The Mythical Junior IT Professional (EN/NL)
  De junior die jij (niet) aanneemt is niet het probleem — maar het onderwijs dat hem opleidde ook niet helemaal. Terwijl AI meer en meer routinewerk overneemt, worstelen zowel bedrijfsleven als hoger onderwijs met dezelfde vraag: wat moet een ICT-professional eigenlijk kunnen in 2030? Ruben legt de data uit het werkveld op tafel, kijkt kritisch naar wat het onderwijs nog niet levert en onderzoekt waar de verantwoordelijkheid ligt.
• Break-out 4: Brent Roose – Things I wish I knew (EN/NL)
  Brent werd op zijn twaalfde verliefd op programmeren, maar ontdekte tijdens zijn carrière hoeveel lessen je niet uit documentatie of tutorials haalt. Nu de opkomst van AI het vak opnieuw verandert, kijkt hij terug op de dingen die hij vijftien jaar geleden graag had willen weten. Welke inzichten helpen je omgaan met onzekerheid, verandering en nieuwe technologieën? Vanuit ruim zeventien jaar ervaring als programmeur, auteur en developer advocate deelt Brent persoonlijke lessen die houvast bieden in een nieuw tijdperk van softwareontwikkeling.

The break-out sessions cover a variety of themes, so there’s something interesting for everyone. You don’t need to sign up for a session in advance. Simply choose your break-out upon arrival at the event. Seats are limited: first come, first served. So make sure you’re on time to attend your favorite session!

• Opening: Leon Schrijvers – Trustworthy Evaluation of LLM Systems (EN)
  How do you know whether an LLM system is truly performing well? Ad-hoc tests may reveal that something is going wrong, but they often fail to explain why or how the system can be improved systematically. Leon shows how to analyze large volumes of AI-generated output, identify recurring failure patterns, and translate them into measurable quality criteria. He also explores how LLMs can be used as evaluators and how to assess whether their judgments are reliable, consistent, and aligned with human experts. A research-driven yet practical opening session on evaluating generative AI applications in a more transparent and trustworthy way.
• Break-out 1: Danny van der Sluijs – Open Source Software from a maintainers perspective (EN/NL)
  Using open source software is easy, but what does it take to maintain a successful project? Danny takes you behind the scenes of life as an open-source maintainer. He discusses common challenges, collaboration with users and contributors, and the tools GitHub provides. You will learn how to structure repositories so others can contribute easily, how to create clear processes for issues and pull requests, and how to organize essentials such as documentation and sponsorship.
