We will be discussing Contents Under Pressure by Edna Buchanan. Set in Miami and written in 1992 this novel feels incredibly retro, but in a good way. It also stars Britt Montero, one of crime literature's first tough female characters, she's a reporter, without a male sidekick.

The Calumet City Public Library is at 660 Manistee Ave. If you know where the River Oaks Mall is, go north on Torrence Ave. from the mall until you reach 154th St., also known as Pulaski in Calumet City. Turn right (east) at 154th/Pulaski and go two short blocks. On the left you'll see the fire station and the police station. Go around back of the fire station. We're just behind the fire station. Manistee Ave. is between the fire station and the police station.
