Fermentation Party Event
Details
Dear Fermentationists (sounds a bit strange?),
Thanks for your patience waiting for a formal announcement of the February edition of the Fermentation Party! We are looking to meet you all as announced on the meetup group for a new intense interaction, reconnecting those that joined us in January.
At our inaugural event, a total of 30 people showed in and enjoyed a great atmosphere, no matter if they were reputed researchers and university professors, professionals in closer or distant fields to biotech, PhDs or enthusiastic students knocking at the doors of the domain.
For sure, for most of the participants the discussions and interactions were interesting and as far as we learned, they were triggering a series of visits and meetings in or outside labs or research organizations, exploring potential collaborations.
During our Fermentation Party 2nd edition we plan to update participants on most recent evolutions within the emergent Timisoara biotech ecosystem, to share information about forthcoming activities & events (like the SynBio Timisoara Hackathon scheduled for March 21-23).
Additionally we’d like to create the possibility for all those interested to present ideas and collect feedback on project that could be of interest for the community. As far as we know, there will be inputs on plans on developing a community lab and to organize visits of groups of high-school kids into local labs.
Also, we’d like to introduce a lab pitching moment and also to let all those interested to present ideas, to launch requests or offers for collaborations.
You are all encouraged to promote the Fermentation Party concept to your friends & colleagues. We’ll find ways to squeeze all interested at the venue ;)
Lastly but definitely not the least important, I would love to welcome my amazing new co-organizers who will contribute massively in organizing the Fermentation Party events:
- Adriana Tămaș, a MSc student at Politehnica University of Timisoara, exploring the fields of medtech and neurosciences
- Andreea Petrie, student at the ”Victor Babeș” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timișoara
- Emanuel Rusu, a MSc in Bioinformatics at West University of Timișoara
The Fermentation Parties natural venue could only be the fantastic Ferment Restaurant that so kindly agreed to offer us hosting and a selection of their incredible tasty and appreciated creative meals during the afternoon of the last Tuesday of each month, in a day that is otherwise their rest day.
There's no fee to be paid in order to participate to the Fermentation Party events but to reward the Ferment Restaurant owners and staff's kindness, each participant is expected to consume food and drinks amounting to a minimum of 90 lei.
Looking forward to meet you again!
Your group organizer,
Radu
See you coming Tuesday evening, this time a bit later, starting at 6PM.
