What?
TiMo starts a series of trainings targeted to about 10 West Romania young programmers (not older than 26) interested in Android development, delivered by Andrei Marcut (https://www.meetup.com/TiMoDev/members/65581892/), an enthusiast mobile development expert and trainer, with a solid mobile product and business development background. Following the participation to this project organized by Timisoara Mobile Development Group, those interested should build a strong mobile, Android foundation or strengthen an existing one.
More specifically, the training is aiming to teach participants in the following areas of expertize, from brief theory sustained by practical examples, to hands-on exercises & homework.
General skills:
Mobile-oriented principles
Requirements gathering, analysis & negociation
Team work and team tools/utilities
Project budgeting and task planning
Engineering, not overengineering
Technical skills:
Android - development tools
Android - development lifecycle
Android - application fundamentals
Android - core development
Android - APIs, sensors, libraries
Android - memory management, memory leaks, logging and debugging
Android - development practice, implementation
Android - best practices, standards, design patterns, antipatterns
Android - extreme development
Participants will have the chance to learn and develop the above mentioned skills and further on, based on their enthusiasm, technical fundamentals, paid attention and time invested doing homeworks & beyond.
Where?
The trainings will take place in Timisoara Startup Hub or in other spaces within the City Business Centre.
Prerequisites (will be evaluated through an initial admission test):
Must have:
Technical English, strong OOP principles understanding, Java language basics, good algorithmics, interest & enthusiasm.
A computer connected to the internet, to work on at home with an Android emulator installed.
Nice to have:
Version Control (git, svn), XML, SQL, Design Patterns, previous experience with mobile development platforms or tools, OOP practice
No laptops nor mobile phones will be needed at the training.
When?
The first training session will take place Saturday, May 11th, starting at 3PM.
Format
The sessions will take place in 6 to 8 Saturdays, in the 3-6 PM interval, loosely distributed over two months (there will be some break weeks).
Each session will be build around a major topic that will be presented by the lecturer, with relevant practical examples. A set of “problems” will be defined as homework. Participants will have to submit their homework for review prior to the next session, when they will be publicly discussed by the lecturer with the class.
Each session will conclude with a Q&A segment. Participants will be encouraged to collect and to share resources within the homework solving process.
Platforms like StackOverflow (http://stackoverflow.com) or Git (http://git-scm.com/) will be used for co-operative working and lecturer-student communication.
During the training, the participants' group will jointly develop an application responding to the needs of a real-life organization.

The deadline for submitting your registration is April 26th, 10 PM. After the evaluation of the registrations, all candidates will be informed about the admission decision to the interview and technical test phases.
Cost
There will be no participation fee as the professional activity of the trainer is done pro-bono and the logistics related to the usage of the location will also be offered by Startup Hub. However the participants will be asked to contribute for covering the costs related to the refreshments and office supply. The exact amount will be communicated to the admitted participants.
