What we're about

FIRST CHINESE AREA TINYML MEETUP TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON!

Based on the success of our tinyML meetup groups in the US and Europe, we are branching out to other countries. We invite you to join this fast growing community of 2000+ experts and enthusiasts around the world interested in all aspects of ultra-low power machine learning technologies, products and applications.

• What is the purpose of the group?
To spread the word and educate the industry on "tinyML" (broadly defined as machine learning architectures, devices, techniques, tools and approaches capable of performing on-device analytics for a variety of sensing modalities--vision, audio, motion, environmental, human health monitoring etc.) at “mW” or below power range targeting predominately battery operated devices. The tinyML meetup group is an informal monthly gathering of researchers and practitioners working on various aspects of machine learning technologies (hardware-algorithms/networks- software-application) at the extreme low-power regime to share latest developments in this fast growing field and promote collaborations throughout the ecosystem. The format will be presentations with Q&A followed by networking.

• Who should join?
Experts in machine learning technologies at the edge, especially in the low power battery operated regime. This includes hardware architects, software engineers, systems engineers, ASIC designers, algorithms and application developers, low power sensor providers and end users. “Newbees”, i.e. people interested in joining this field and getting up to speed by listening start-of-the-art presentations and interacting with established players are very welcome to join too, both from the industry and the academia.

• What will you do at your events?
Communicate to the attendees the “latest and greatest” in tinyML by watching a presentation from a tinyML expert from the industry or the academia and interfacing with the member of the tinyML Community.

"Success Stories with Pete Warden from Google" hosted by Dr. Chris Rowen

In addition to popular tinyML Talks (which are deeply technical in nature), we are excited to start new webcast series, tinyML Trailblazers, uncovering Success Stories in the tinyML World.

As tinyML continues its strong growth, there are more and more inspirational stories to be shared with the Community by its “movers &shakers”. These monthly LIVE and INTERACTIVE tinyML events will bring tinyML Masterminds, those who pioneer the field and make a significant impact, in an informal conversation/interview hosted by Dr. Chris Rowen, a renown Silicon Valley technologist and entrepreneur, and a tinyML innovator. They will share their stories of developing game changing tinyML technologies and innovations, applications, products and companies, as well as setting new research directions and revealing future vision.

Our first guest for the kick-off event will be Pete Warden of Google who doesn’t really need an introduction this audience (https://tinymlbook.com/).

Pete Warden is the technical lead of the TensorFlow Lite Micro open-source project at Google, and was previously CTO of Jetpac, a machine-learning startup acquired in 2014. He's an author of the TinyML book from O'Reilly, has taught embedded machine learning at Stanford and Harvard, and has an upcoming EdX online course. He occasionally blogs at petewarden.com, and is on Twitter as @petewarden.

We encourage you to register earlier since on-line broadcast capacity may be limited.

Note: tinyML Talks slides and videos will be available on the tinyML website and tinyML YouTube Channel afterwards, for those who missed the live session. Please take a moment and subscribe to the YouTube channel today: https://www.youtube.com/tinyML?sub_confirmation=1

"The Value of Edge AI for Industrial Applications: onsemi and SensiML IIoT Solutions"

In this session, onsemi and SensiML will cover the topic of edge AI models and why they can be greatly beneficial for industrial applications. Whether process monitoring and optimization, or predictive maintenance to prevent costly downtime, the ROI for Edge AI is arguably strongest within the industrial sector.

What you will learn:
- Why sensor analytics at the extreme edge is an important advancement for connected IIoT deployments;
- Example use cases within the industrial sector that have clear and high return on investment;
- Details of the onsemi and SensiML edge sensing platform and how it can transform the ability of Industry 4.0 innovators to gain critical insights.

With over 25 years of experience running embedded systems, wireless communications, and algorithm development businesses, Chris has led high caliber teams at companies ranging from Intel to startups. Chris focuses on building and supporting teams capable of bringing cutting edge technologies to reality, delivering results, and customer value quickly. Prior to spinning out SensiML from Intel, Chris was general manager of Intel’s Quark/Curie machine learning software tools business and held prior positions as product line manager turning around Intel’s $750M business in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules. An engineer at heart, Chris started his career in automotive test/measurement as both developer and end-user of IoT systems well before the term came into vogue, building bespoke embedded systems for Michelin Tire and then as a consultant to test vendors for GM and Ford. He holds a bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business.

Theo manages a team of product definers and applications engineers for power and sensing solutions. He started his career at Philips/NXP focusing on digital video processing and moved from the Netherlands to the San Jose Bay area to work on broadband routers, VoIP and cable modem systems. In the RF group Theo gained diverse experience developing products for Hearing-aid digital-signal-processors, and Wi-Fi modules. And in the NXP applications group he managed a team working on digital-power point-of-load, Wi-Fi and ZigBee applications. Joining a start-up, he developed unique 60Ghz wireless connectivity products with top electronics companies. Theo has three patents issued and is a public speaker.

We encourage you to register earlier since on-line broadcast capacity may be limited.
