Legel Entities for Intentional Communities Meeting - Sept. 19th TONIGHT

From: Cate G

Hello everyone,  I just got this message from one of the other groups I belong to and thought it might be of great interest to ASBCO members as well.  It would be helpful if someone from ASBCO could attend and report back to the rest of the group at Saturday's open meeting @ French Broad!

Asked to be sent to you by Diana on Sept. 18th. Sorry for the late notice.

Dear Marianne and members of the Women-Living-in-Community Meetup, (and other friends and colleagues),

The Legal Research Team at Earthaven Ecovillage in Black Mountain has arranged for me to do a presentation about which kinds of legal entities intentional communities typically use to benefit and protect their communities. And more specifically, how they use several different kinds of legal entities together — a "mosaic" of multiple legal entities, working together.

It's a multi-media presentation with handouts for all participants.

They asked me because I research how to start successful new intentional communities, and write books and offer workshops and consultations on this topic. (Plus I live at Earthaven too.) I've researched and written about legal entities used by successful intentional communities, from ecovillages to cohousing communities to other kinds of intentional communities.

Our Legal Research Team also thought it would be good to invite people in the area who might also be planning to start intentional communities, which is why this message to the Meet-Up group. I'm sorry this is such short notice!

The event is tomorrow night, Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 7:15 pm for snacks, and 7:30-9:00 pm for the presentation. It's in Earthaven's Council Hall. Here's the URL for directions to get here:
Earthaven Ecovillage is about an hour's drive from Asheville.
The Council Hall is a large round building up the rise on the right of the road after you come in, after you cross the first bridge. You'll see the lights. Park in the parking areas below by the road, and walk on up the trail. Or walk out onto the large lawn and then walk up the trail. There will be blazing lights in the building, it will be hard to miss.

If this interests you, please do attend. It's $20 the door, which is basically a donation to Earthaven's Forest Children's Program, a homeschooling parents' co-op.

Thanks in advance for considering attending.
