☀️Sunny Spring Holiday Day Hike to Höttinger Alm from Innsbruck 🪻⛰️🥾

Thursday is a public holiday (Labour Day!), and the forecast promises mild and sunny spring weather! Perfect for another adventure in the mountains! 🏞️ The plan is to head up to the recently re-opened Höttinger Alm hut in Nordkette, where we’ll be rewarded with sweeping views over Innsbruck and the Inn Valley. 📸

After reaching the hut, we can enjoy a well-earned lunch 🍽️ or just relax with a drink and take in the scenery. Afterwards, the day remains open-ended, so everyone can decide what suits them best: relax at the hut, explore further trails, or head back down at their own pace.
It’s a golden opportunity to enjoy a spring hike before summer crowds arrive, so grab your gear and join us! 🎒🌼

## ⛰️ Difficulty

This hike is of medium difficulty. The distance is short (less than 5 km), but the elevation gain is over 800 meters, so the path is steep and NOT beginner-friendly!
We might take breaks as needed and support anyone who needs encouragement. 💪 The descent, however, offers flexibility: options range from scenic routes to quick returns, depending on your mood and energy!

The forecast looks sunny and clear, with no rain expected! ☀️
Expect to sweat along the way as it will be sunny and challenging.
On the other hand, it might be chilly at the top (around 1500m), so please bring layers. We’ll monitor the forecast and update you on any major changes. 🧥

## 📍 Itinerary / Highlights

• Meeting point and departure: Before 9:00 at Großer Gott Chapel in Hötting (Innsbruck)
• Pass by the Höttinger Schießstand guesthouse
• Ascend through the Hofwald forest 🌲
• Stop by the Höttinger Bild chapel
• Walk along the Höttinger Graben ravine
• Climb near the Knappenlöcher abandoned mines ⛏️
• Reach Höttinger Alm hut around 11:30–12:00 🏡

🍽️ Lunch at the hut is optional. If there’s a larger group, we’ll consider making a reservation – please let us know by Wednesday if you're planning to eat there!

## ✅ Preparedness Checklist

• Warm layers 🧥 – It may be cold at higher altitude.
• Sturdy hiking shoes 🥾 – Essential for the steep terrain.
• Hiking sticks ❗ – Highly recommended for the steep trail.
• Water 💧 – Bring enough to stay hydrated throughout the hike (there are no fountains on the way).
• Cash 💵 – Höttinger Alm does not accept cards.
• Snacks – Especially if you don’t plan to eat at the hut.
• Dog-friendly 🐶 – Dogs are welcome! Bring water and snacks for your buddy.
