The weather is finally on our side—time to head higher into the mountains! Join us for an unforgettable hike to Sumpfkopf (2,317 m) in the beautiful Wipptal region, just a 25-minute train ride from Innsbruck.
This moderately challenging route offers panoramic views of the Stubai Alps, blooming alpine meadows, and peaceful forests.
Hike Details:
The hike starts at St. Jodok train station (1,130 m) at 10:15 where we begin our ascent through Hochgenein and Hochgeneinerjöchl (1,961 m) to the summit of Sumpfkopf (the last section is optional). The descent follows a different route via Edelraute, returning us to St. Jodok. The full hike is 12.6 km long and will take around 6 hours.
🥾 Difficulty: Moderate – some steep and narrow sections
🌼 Highlights: Alpine meadows, larch forests, and a 360° summit view

Public transport:

  • 🚆 Departure: S3 from Innsbruck Hbf at 09:49, arriving in St. Jodok at 10:14
  • 🚆 Return: Trains back to Innsbruck run every 30 minutes

What to Bring:
🥾 Sturdy hiking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing
🍎🥖 Lunch and drinks – there are no huts or restaurants along the way
