Hiking to Westfalenhaus (2273m) from Praxmar (Lüsenstal)

Hello everyone!

Ready for a high mountain hike? Then join us this Sunday the 7th of September!
This time, we’ll journey up and through Lüsental (side valley from Sellraintal) from Praxmar (1700m) to reach the stunning Westfalenhaus mountain hut, perched at an altitude of 2273m.
Expect always-stunning alpine landscapes, rugged mountain paths, pristine mountain streams and a rewarding hut stop at the top.⛰️

🥾Difficulty
This hike is rated as medium difficulty, with a total distance of around 13 km and an elevation gain of 720 meters. The trail might include occasional steep and rocky sections, so good fitness and surefootedness are required. This is not suitable for complete beginners, so please assess your ability to handle a 3 hour uphill hike at mid/high altitude before joining.

Forecast looks favorable, but mountain weather changes quickly. Pack for sun, wind, and rain.

🕗Schedule/Itinerary
08:00 - Departure from the bus terminal outside Innsbruck main train station (Regionalbus 4166 to Kühtai via Praxmar, platform L)
09:00 - Expected arrival to "Praxmar Wendestelle" bus stop and start of the hike
12:00* - Arrival at Westfallenhaus (optional lunch at the hut)
13:00* - Descent back towards Praxmar through the same path
16:25 - Last bus (!!) back to Innsbruck from "Praxmar Wendestelle" bus stop

🚗For those driving there
You can park at the nearby Moos Parkplatz and then walt to Praxmar to join the bus group at the start of the hike (bus stop).

✅Preparedness Checklist

• Bring enough cash 💵 as card payments might not be accepted at the hut in case you want to have something there
• Protect yourself from the sun 🌞 with sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses, as almost all parts of the trail are quite exposed
• Stay hydrated with a refillable water bottle, and consider pack snacks for energy or your own lunch if not having it at the hut
• Pack for all weather with waterproof clothing 🌦️ and wear sturdy hiking boots 👢
• Dogs are welcome 🐶 Don’t forget water and snacks for them too
• Hiking sticks are recommended for added stability on steeper or uneven terrain!
