Getting your seed money the right way

We are renewing our group and at our first meetup we'll deal with the questions that each entrepreneur asks:

• What would be the best funding source for my venture?

• What is the difference between an angel investment and a VC?

• What should I expect if I go to a startup accelerator program?

We are putting together three people who deal with early stage startups and who will share their vision and their values while working with the entrepreneurs.

Harold Wiener, PhD, General Partner of Terra Venture Partners, a leading Israeli multi-stage fund. Harold has over 20 years of industrial and operational experience, in the biotechnology and natural products fields, both is Israel and abroad. Harold was the Research & New Business Development Manager from Aromor for 17 years and the New Business Development Manager for Alga technologies for 5 years. At both of these companies Harold led the product development process from the early development stage to the marketing stage and played a crucial role in the new business development of both companies. Harold has also served as CEO of several small biotech and biomedical companies, and he is currently CTO of the Misgav Technology Center Incubator. Harold holds a PhD in Applied Chemistry from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and has co-authored more than 20 scientific papers and patents in prestigious international Journals.

Tal Barnoach, one of the leading Israeli angel investors. Tal has been an entrepreneur since 1993. Over the past 20 years he has acted as founder and executive of companies such as S.E.A which went public in 1996, Orca Interactive (acquired by France Telecom in 2008), Beinsync (acquired Phoenix Technologies in 2008) and Dotomi (acquired by Valueclick in 2011. He was a seed investor in companies such as Quomranet (acquired by Red Hat), Crossrider (acquired by The Markets) and he is a seed investor in Fixya, Qwilt, Fusic, Beamr, Askem and others.

Tal recently founded a seed+ fund which focuses on Israeli related companies and technologies. He served in the Israeli Special Intelligence Unit of the IDF and is a Tel-Aviv University graduate.

Ornit Shinar, Head of Citi Accelerator in Israel, joined Citi a year ago to lead the financial group’s efforts to create a thriving Fintech community in Israel. Ornit, a savvy entrepreneur herself brings corporate and startup experience to the table, bridging the gap between the two worlds.
