Creators talk about the big impact of short media
Dec 2nd, 7pm-10pm
We live in a crowded media environment where there’s a constant competition for attention.
Keeping things short is a great way to stand out.
In this unmissable event, we’ll be featuring speakers whose short works convey a message succinctly and beautifully. Presentations will be followed by a Q&A and mingling.
Presenter Lineup:
Every week, FILMARTIST Productions (http://filmartist.ca/) shoots and edits a 30-second video profile of a Toronto artist. FILMARTIST director Paris Zheng will be showing some of her favourite videos, and will talk about the creative workflow of making short videos. She’ll give us a sense of how to express an idea within the constraints of 30 seconds.
Dan Tapper
Code Poems (http://visualcodepoems.tumblr.com/) is a daily art meditation generated by computer code. Dan Tapper makes this code artwork in a style inspired by zen poetry and haiku. The works celebrate the simplicity and beauty that can be found in code.
Gustavo Cerquera Benjumea
Colombian-born and Toronto-based digital media artist, animator, and teacher, Gustavo Cerquera Benjumea was challenged to produce a short animated film during a one-week residency with the Toronto Animated Image Society. He'll show the film and talk about how this experience taught him about his creative process.
