WHAT IS TOASTMASTERS? Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs. Headquartered in Englewood, Colo., the organization's membership exceeds 358,000 in more than 16,800 clubs in 143 countries.
Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped people from diverse backgrounds become more confident speakers, communicators, and leaders.
TOASTMASTERS IN THE HAGUE:
In The Hague there are three English language TM clubs - Toastmasters of The Hague (TMOTH) consists of both expats and Dutch citizens who wish to improve their general communication skills/professional presentation skills as part of their professional development. The 2nd is The Hague University Toastmasters, for teachers & students that meet every Wednesday. The 3rd is Tír na nÓg (tir-na-nog) that meet on Tuesdays.
We all follow the international curriculum called Pathways, an online platform detailing the goals, and focus points of each speech, in order to build self-confidence to inform and inspire. You will gain leadership skills along the way. See the Facebook group Toastmasters District 59 for more about English & Dutch TM clubs.
WHEN + WHERE + WHAT?
Our TMOTH club comes together every 1st, and 3rd Thursday of the month. We host meetings, usually in Het Koorenhuis, Prinsegracht 27 The Hague, Room 1.05. For the latest information on location, and for signing up, please check the event-link here in Meetup.
Meetings start promptly at 19:45 (walk in/log in from 19:30) and finish at 21:30. They consist of planned and impromptu speeches to improve your presentation skills. We focus on stage presence, the clarity of your story, the connection with the audience and speech structure. Members are challenged to improve their listening and management skills by taking up meeting roles as time-keeper, word filler counter, grammarian (proper use of the English language), and speech evaluators (focusing on the delivery and fine details of the speech).

HOW MUCH?
First meetings are FREE and subsequent subscriptions work out at about €7 per meeting if you become a member. Clearly the BEST VALUE communication and leadership training ANYWHERE and with a lot of social interaction thrown in!
