Adding something new! We are introducing Tabletop Taco Tuesdays as a new way for us to stay connected between events.
The volunteers have all LOVED teaching and supporting games at the Extravaganza's and we know we sometimes don't have time to play them all or, because it's a Saturday night, the more social games may be calling. BUT! With Taco Tuesdays, it's a chance for us, in smaller groups, to get together and dive into even more of those bigger games.
What to Expect: At these nights, Vince will be leading a table through what we call at Changeling Gaming, a Level 3 Game. These are games where everyone at the table has experience in playing different kinds of games and is ready to play a more complex game with little game mechanics coaching. Definitely still rules and strategy coaching will be available, but often in these games, either hidden information matters or players have so much information to track that they will need to be able to make decisions more independently. Example games would be Ark Nova, Viticulture, Terraforming Mars, Earth, Spirit Island and so on.
And just like our other events, everything Extravaganza is community first. However you identify on the 2SLGBTQIA+ spectrum, there is always a chair for you at our game tables. Friendly allies are also welcome, so long as they are respectful of the intentions of the event space.
Where will we meet?: We have a table booked at Blanco Cantina, a wonderful Mexican restaurant that has, yes, Taco Tuesdays! Blanco is an ideal space to relax and enjoy great food, good company, and settle into a board game. So while we learn rules we can also enjoy tacos, then tuck into a game with snacks and drinks. And travel-wise, it is also in the Annex along Bloor Street, so it is a similar commute for these events too.
Note on accessibility: The venue has gender-inclusive washrooms available by a flight of stairs on the lower level.
Attendance: For these events, just like our Extravaganza's, tickets will be $5 per person. All the money raised will go to supporting the events, and all the behind-the-scenes expenses that go into it. When you signup, there will be a prompt to pay in advance on Meetup.
Want to Volunteer and lead a table?: We are always looking for wonderful folks to join our friendly team of volunteers who help to make these events possible. If you have a game you want to bring to the table for one of these nights, the more the merrier! To get started, please email changelinggaminginfo@gmail.com
