Networking Unlocked: Why We Connect, How We Do It, and Where It Happens

Networking is often described as essential to career and business success. But for many of us, it can feel awkward, exhausting or intimidating.
In this interactive workshop, we will take networking back to basics and explore how to build connections that feel natural, authentic and useful.

We will explore:

  • Why we connect: What professional relationships offer beyond an exchange of business cards.
  • How we connect: Practical communication skills and approaches that work for different personalities and ways of thinking.
  • Where we connect: From formal events to cafés and community spaces—and how the setting can shape a conversation.
  • There will be time to practise, too. In a supportive, low-pressure setting, you will try introductions, conversations and follow-ups for yourself.
  • Who’s it for? Anyone who wants to feel more confident networking, including job seekers, founders and professionals, or anyone who finds it daunting and would like a friendlier way in.

You will leave with practical tools, new connections and more confidence starting conversations that matter.

Our speakers bring different perspectives on how people connect, contribute and thrive.

  • Dr Claudia Cavalluzzo will share “The Chemistry of Connections.” With a background in organic chemistry and years of experience supporting entrepreneurs and academic founders, she now leads Venture Café Edinburgh, bringing Scotland’s innovators together and helping ideas find the people and support they need.
  • Aileen Carson is a neurodiversity trainer, coach and keynote speaker. She works with organisations to create more neuroinclusive workplaces and helps individuals find practical ways to do their best work.

We are looking forward to seeing you there!
