Details
🎍This day marksthe Start of A NEW YEAR👘🪭🧧Why not get up early on New Year's Day take a deserted train and refresh yourself in the clear air of a temple?
The New Year's Eve Bell at Kenchoji Temple starts at 11:45pm on New Year's Eve, and a memorial service is held at the National Treasure temple bell where the bell is struck by a monk. The temple is open all day from 4:30pm on New Year's Eve to 4:30pm on New Year's Day, and admission is free.
On this New Year's Day morning, Rinzai sect(the Zen sect)monks from all over the country gather, and the sight of the monks walking in a line on the stone pavement of the spacious temple grounds shrouded in mist in the silent air, makes you feel like your mind is being sharpened👥🫧
The monks then recite sutras in unison in the Buddhist hall.
This sight also makes you feel the beginning of the year once again🎍
After that, you can enter a place 2.3 times the size of the Tokyo Dome. You can see the gardens of the Hojo, and after a 20-minute walk up the stairs at the back, you can go to Hanzobo where about 12 Tengu statues are enshrined where prayers are held, and on clear days you can see Mt. Fuji🗻🪭

●除夜の鐘(joya no kane)

At Buddhist temples, huge bells are hit 108 times during midnight to get rid of all evil desires.
※Kamakura Station is very crowded on New Year's Day, so I will show you how to walk to Kamakura Station or Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine.
