Tokyo Biotech Meetup

Details

WHEN: 4th of June. 18:30 to 20:30
WHERE: Tokyo Metropolitan Library 都立中央図書館 交流ルーム(有栖川公園内)
COST: Free. No snacks/drinks. (Post-event socialising in a nearby bar planned if people are interested)

WHAT: Casual biotech/neuroscience discussion - no presentations, just good conversation in a relaxed atmosphere (think Cold Spring Harbor's Blackford Bar).

THE FIRST TOPIC: "how will AI transform biology?". Beyond protein folding prediction, where else could AI bring value? Signal processing, diagnosis or conference reviews? How do we contain hallucination for medical purposes? Or discuss anything else on your mind!

WHO SHOULD COME:

  • Researchers, biotech staff, international postgrads, enthusiasts, students
  • All levels welcome - from high school to industry veterans
  • English-based but Japanese speakers welcome

WHY IN-PERSON: Online discussions are everywhere, but relaxed face-to-face conversation sparks new ideas. Could evolve into journal club if there's interest.

ORGANIZER: Cambridge Natural Sciences grad (genetics/neuro), biotech experience, currently doing Tokyo research project. Missing Cambridge's casual science talks!
