Watch a Sumo Training session at a famous stable nurturing Yokozuna.The stable welcomes to watch a morning training session only for supported members sometimes. If you can wake up early and come to the country town one hour from Tokyo by train, you can have a rare experience with me as friends of a member.

At this time, a lot of supporters want to see a new Yokozuna, Ohnosato. He became Yokozuna 10 days ago. He won the Grand tournament in March and May. He achieved the top rank of sumo wrestling within 2 years after the first admission to the tournament. This is the fastest record in sumo history.

Grand tournaments are held 6 times in the year. Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka are the sites. At the same time, tours are held all over Japan in between the grand tournaments.
It is difficult to get a ticket because its popularity is on the rise. Training in the morning is a daily routine for sumo wrestlers. However, there are few chances to look at it.
Some sumo stables even hold tours for a fee. About 15 thousand yen may be the usual.

Itinerary

Meet at the main exit of the train station of “Hitachi no ushiku”, Joban line
Time is 7:30. If you are taking the train, take the 6:31 train from Ueno. It takes 55 minutes to ride. I can wait for you for up to 10 minutes. Because admission tickets are distributed on a first-come, first serve basis.

8:00 A staff of the stable shall start handing out tickets.
8:50 Take off your shoes and enter the exercising space.
9:00 Watching sumo training.
You can take a photo but flashlight and camera shutter sound or talking is prohibited.
11:00 The training session ends.

If you bring a cushion or towel to sit on the wooden floor, it might be comfortable for you.
