Tokyo Culture Explorers gets off the beaten path to discover unusual places, local culture, food and drinks, with curious, sociable people from Japan and around the world.

We look for experiences that are genuinely worth going out of your way for — from hidden local gems and traditional culture to places most Tokyo residents have never visited. Good conversation and good company are as much a part of the experience as the destination itself.

English is our common language, but all levels are welcome — just bring your curiosity and willingness to join the conversation.

Inside a 200-Year-Old Tokyo Sake Brewery

Join us for a private tour to Tamura Shuzo, a historic sake brewery in Fussa city (45min west of Shinjuku) that has been making sake since 1822.
We’ll explore the brewery, learn how sake is made, hear the story of the family and their 200-year history, and of course taste some sake.
But this isn’t just about sake. It’s an excuse to get out of central Tokyo, discover somewhere most people never think to visit, and spend an afternoon with an interesting mix of people.
Get together at JR Fussa station at 14:45, expect to finish around 17:00, then maybe another round of cheers in Shinjuku area.
