(2) Marquis Maeda Residence in Komaba Park is a piece of Europe in Tokyo depicting life of aristocrats in the early Showa period. It is the former residence of the noble Marquis Toshinari Maeda (1885-1942), a descendant of the wealthy and powerful Kaga Samurai family that once ruled the Kanazawa area. The spectacular Western-style residence has a Japanese-style guesthouse and a Japanese garden which were built for entertaining foreign guests as the Marquis was a military attaché in London.
