Discussing Osamu Dazai's "No Longer Human"
Details
For our August book club we're doing Osamu Dazai's No Longer Human (人間失格 - Ningen Shikkaku). It's a book many people have on their to-read lists, or that they have read years ago but maybe struggled to really get why it's so highly rated, so this a good opportunity to get to grips with a book that promises to reward the effort. Plus there's a movie and a manga version, so you can easily blag it if you don't finish reading in time. We won't judge you.
This book club is aimed at people interested in reading contemporary literature (fiction and general interest non-fiction) and meeting new people to have interesting conversations about said literature.
We are generally focused on reading stuff that is either Japanese, or somehow relevant to an audience that lives in contemporary Japan.
Meetings are in English, but the organizers are bilingual so can help out if you're not super fluent.
Venue info: A Talk Club Woofer. It's a bar very near Yoyogi Station, or a short walk from Shinjuku Station.
Accessibility info: The venue is wheelchair accessible. It's on level B1, but there is an elevator.
About the name: No one has yet claimed the prize for coming up with a better name. Please save me from having to tell people I run a book club called "Tokyo Insert Funny Name Book Club."
