Let's meet up and study Japanese/English with international supportive friends over a nice cup of coffee! ☕📚Whether you are an expat learning Japanese or a Japanese local studying English, this meetup is for you!
📍Meeting point: Tully's Coffee Sumida Park inside the large bay-window room
🔹 Participation fee: 500 yens (+ order a drink separately)
Here is what we do:
- 13:30-14:00: we order a drink and introduce ourselves as well as what we will be working on.
- 14:00-15:00: self-study part, we each *quietly* focus on our English/Japanese studies, whether it's learning from a textbook, writing kanji or listening to a podcast.
- 15:00-15:30: we share what we've learned and ask our questions to Japanese/English speakers if we have any.
- From 15:30: for those who want to stick around a bit longer, let's chat about any topic in Japanese and/or English!
🔹Important: This is NOT a conversation-focused language exchange. This is an opportunity for self-learners to motivate one another, work on their own in a friendly and supportive environment, and ask questions to native-level speakers at the end of the session.
🔹Please make sure:
✅ you arrive 5 minutes before the event starts
✅ you order a drink and pay the 500 yen participation fee
✅ you bring your own learning materials
✅ you respect the 1h quiet study time so that everyone can focus🙏
🔹About the organizer
I'm an English-French translator and I worked as an English teacher for 15+ years. I speak fluent American English and love explaining grammar, conjugation rules or idioms and expressions. So if you have any questions, fire away! ^^

🔹当日の流れ：
13:30～14:00：ドリンクを注文し、自己紹介と本日の学習内容を共有します。
14:00～15:00：各自で静かに日本語または英語を自習します。テキストで勉強したり、漢字を書いたり、ポッドキャストを聞いたり、それぞれのスタイルでOKです。
15:00～15:30：学んだことを共有したり、日本語／英語のネイティブスピーカーに質問する時間です。
15:30～：残りたい方は、そのまま自由に日本語や英語でおしゃべりを楽しみましょう♪

このミートアップは「会話中心の言語交換」ではありません。自学自習をしている方が、フレンドリーでサポートし合える環境で学習意欲を高めたり、最後にネイティブスピーカーに質問したりする機会を提供する場です。
