What we’re about

Assalamu Alaikum and welcome!

My name is Maya from China and studying in Japan for over 7 years.

I’m starting this group to bring together fellow Muslims in Japan who are interested in connecting through casual, halal-friendly activities outside the mosque — whether it’s enjoying nature, exploring the city, or simply having a good conversation over coffee.

Japan Muslim Community Connect is open to everyone —Muslim or non-Muslim, who respects and appreciates a relaxed, inclusive environment where we can connect as people, learn from one another, and enjoy Japan together.

During my fieldwork with Muslim communities in major Chinese cities, I saw how powerful it can be when Muslims come together — not just for prayer, but also for everyday connection, support, and shared experiences. That sense of community inspired me, and I’ve always hoped to create something similar here in Tokyo.

Here are some of the things we’ll do:

🌿 Casual park picnics
🏙️ City walks and urban exploring
🥾 Light hiking trips
📚 Reading circles and café meetups
☕ Friendly coffee conversations

Whether you’re new to Japan or a long-time resident, Muslim or not, I warmly invite you to join. This group is about creating a space that’s welcoming, respectful, and built on shared curiosity, kindness, and good company.
