are you working with Rails at the moment?

No, but I have a multilingual project that might make use of Rails components, and I have enough of a hacker skillset to get stuff working with a little friendly advice.

what activities would you most like to see at this event?

Presentations on fully-multilingual web framework components.

Introduction

What Michael T. is saying about this Meetup Group

Free (and good) food at COOKPAD. Useful advice. What's not to like? OK, here's why I bumped it from Five-Star to Four-Star in this P.S. to my review: Miles wants a presentation of a Collaborate project in detail, at each meetup. So far, I haven't seen one. As he explained it to me, one presenter called in sick, then at the next meetup, the promised presenter simply failed to show up. I think his idea is a good one. The brief introductions of each Collaborate project are helpful, but they don't provide much of a clue about status or progress. I think it would help all Collaborate sessions considerably to have a more detail presentation before each session. It would set more of a tone of "we're also here to work, not just drink the free beer, eat the free food, and socialize," and there would be more actual collaboration.
