Have you heard of the “Ako Roshi” (the 47 Ronin) vendetta?
It is a famous historical event in which 47 samurai avenged their lord’s death, an incident that originated from a conflict inside Edo Castle (now the Imperial Palace) during the Edo period.
In this event, we will trace the actual route the 47 Ronin took — from the mansion of their lord’s enemy, Kira Kozuke-no-suke, to Sengakuji Temple, where their master’s grave is located — while jogging at a relaxed pace.
The run will be very slow, so anyone can join, and it’s perfectly fine to leave partway through.
After visiting the graves at Sengakuji, if time and energy allow, we will also visit the site where the 47 Ronin committed seppuku.
