Let's enjoy the traditional Japanese storytelling art “Rakugo” in English!

Rakugo is a traditional Japanese comical storytelling art form. It has over 300 years of history (from the middle of the Edo era), and is characterized by its unique performance style. The stories are narrated in a dialogue format. Dressed in a kimono, the storyteller remains seated throughout the performance, playing the parts of several characters and acting out different scenes with only a fan and a hand towel as props. Unable to use costumes and scenery, it is the job of the rakugoka (storyteller) to inspire the imagination of the audience through the skill employed in portraying the world of the story.
I would like to introduce this amazing art from to you. What fascinates me is, stories that were written more than 300 years ago are still performed and are still funny. Come enjoy listening to some of my favorite Rakugo stories.

お時間あれば、公演の前後はだらだら飲んだり（アルコール有）して、おしゃべりしてください。小腹を満たす軽食のお持ち込みもOKです。（ゴミはお持ち帰りください）
