Ecoatoms is a space biomanufacturing company. We design ‘ecos’, habitats or payloads to fabricate biological products in the space environment. We specialize in biomaterials, medical devices and therapeutics.

The space environment is the ideal manufacturing environment for chemical synthesis and deposition processes. Compared to earth there are no forces like sedimentation, convection, hydrostatic pressure and buoyancy. This can lead to more effective and precise medical assets. Our payloads leverage the microgravity environment to create a unique bioproducts.

## Presenter/ Panelist

Solange Massa MD PhD is the founder and CEO of Ecoatoms, a NASA supported company developing the next generation biomaterials, pharmaceuticals and medical devices in space. She was previously the Lead Investment Fellow for the Bio/Genomics Committee at Life Science Angels and currently a member at the same group. Before that, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University where spent two years developing biomaterials for radiation induced diseases. During her Ph.D. she developed award-winning vascular, liver and cardiac Organs-on-a-Chip for drug toxicity testing at Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology. For this work she was named MIT Innovator under 35 and Women at the Frontier. Her work also includes world-wide collaborations with EPFL, Politecnico di Milano, Universidad de los Andes and Universidad de Chile in 3D printing, tissue engineering, microfluidics, cell biology, neuroscience and nanotechnology. Her work has been featured in TEDx, MIT Technology Review, BBC, Wired and numerous scientific journals.

Jovan David Rebolledo PhD, DrENG, is the SingularityU Tokyo Chapter Organizer, and the Singularity University Global Amassador for Tokyo. He has researched and started up in exponential technologies. He has organized SingularityU Tokyo GIC, helping companies like Sho Nakanose (GITAI) and Yuki Hanyu (Intergriculture) to scale via SU. SingularityU Tokyo Chapter has connected experts in areas like Digital Biology, Quantum Computing, Space among others to Tokyo. Jovan has been related to Singularity University since 2009, when he attended the GSP Innaugural Program, and has been Faculty at Singularity University from 2014 to 2017. He has researched at OIST, the University of Tokyo, and has been Invited Lecturer at Keio University and Stanford University. He is currently CEO at Exponential Japan and Senior Advisor in Emergent Technologies at ETL-UN.
