Henri Bergson created a unique post-Kantian metaphysics, in which the subjective, qualitative and affective dimensions of experience are accorded great importance, even as thought is bound to the physical sciences, biology and mathematics. In his paper "Introduction to Metaphysics," written after his famous works Time and Free Will (Essai sur les données immédiates de la conscience) and Matter and Memory, Bergson for the first time gives a detailed explication of the method which underwrites his philosophy: the method of intuition.
Please join us as we undertake a close read of this short essay, and hopefully use the understanding we gain of Bergson's method in further readings of the works of this important thinker.
