**Join us for our first design career day!** A full day of interactive activities and talks with UXers in Japan!

The event is mainly for designers and researchers, but is open to anyone interested in learning about design in Japan and reflecting on their career.

**This event allows you to:**
✅ Make friends with other designers working in Japanese companies (you will be seated in small groups allowing for deep connections)
✅ Take a step back and reflect on your design career with fun exercises
✅ Hear inspiring talks to gain new perspectives (everything from Japanese design & research practices to how to use forest therapy to cure burnout!)
✅ Discover new opportunities and plan your next career move

We start with some group activities, allowing you to get to know the other participants, before working through a career reflection exercise. After that, we have some exciting speakers who will host some interactive sessions sharing their experiences working in design in Japan. Finally, we have an exercise to allow you to map our your future career moves and share them (if you like) with the group.

Speakers:

**John Leung, Senior Product Designer @PayPay Securities**
**Talk Topic: Japanese Product Design & Cultural Differences**
John has been working in Tokyo's product design field since 2016. He will be sharing his experiences designing for Japanese audiences at Paypay Securities and other Japanese companies (from startups to unicorns), with a focus on how culture impacts design choices.

**Ting Wang, UX Researcher & Designer @GLOBIS**
**Talk Topic: Curing Career Burnout with *Shinrinyoku* Forest Bathing**
Originally from Taiwan, Ting moved to Japan in 2019 to work as a UX designer & researcher for an ed-tech company. She is recently involved in the Japanese art of forest bathing, and will be sharing how connecting to the nature around Tokyo can help designers who experience stress and burnout in their careers.

**Jamie Barnes, UX Researcher, ex-Meta**
**Talk Topic: Global UX Careers & Cross Cultural Research**
Jamie is an experienced UXR from the UK who recently moved to Japan to help a Japanese e-commerce company expand overseas. During his past work at Meta, he conducted research with participants all over the world. He will share about his experiences across cultures and share tips for cross cultural research.

**Maxwell Forrest, Founder @Wayfinder Japan**
**Talk Topic: Freelancing & Going Independent in Japan**
Maxwell is a UX professional who worked at several tech companies in Japan while working as a freelance UX consultant on the side. The business grew, leading him to quit his full time role to pursue freelancing full time, and eventually create a company in Japan. He'll share tips for anyone looking to branch out and work independently in UX in Japan.

**初のデザインキャリアデーを開催します！🎉** 他のデザイナーやリサーチャーと交流しながらキャリアを振り返ったり、次のキャリアステップを考えるきっかけになるようなトークをお楽しみいただけます。

イベントは土曜日の10時30分から17時頃まで、終日開催されますが、途中参加・退出は可能です。トークは基本英語になりますが、参加者の半数ほどは日本人の想定のため、英語に自信がなくてもお気軽にご参加ください。

**今回のイベントの特徴：**
✅ 日本企業で働く多様な背景を持つデザイナーと交流できる（日本人・外国人半々を想定）
✅ 自分のデザインキャリアを振り返って、今の状態を言語化できる
✅ 多様な内容のトークを聞いて気付きを得られる（異文化間でのデザインノウハウから、森林セラピーまで！）
✅ 新しい気付きをもとに、今後のキャリアプランを立てられる

まずはグループアクティビティで他の参加者（少数グループ）と交流し、キャリアを振り返るエクササイズを行います。その後、スピーカーが、デザイン業界での経験を共有します。最後に、参加者それぞれが将来のキャリアプランを描き、グループで共有します。

**トークテーマ：日本のデザインと文化の違い**
ジョンは2016年から東京でデザイナーとして活躍しています。PayPay証券をはじめとする企業で、日本人ユーザー向けのデザイン制作に携わった経験について、文化がデザインにどのような影響を与えるかに焦点を当てて話します。

**ティン・ワン（グロービス UXリサーチャー）**
**トークテーマ：森林浴で日々のストレスを解消**
台湾出身のティンは、日本の教育テクノロジー企業でUXデザイナー兼リサーチャーとして働くため、日本に移住しました。最近は森林浴に興味を持ち、自然との繋がりが、キャリアにおけるストレスやバーンアウトにどのように役立つかについて共有します。

**ジェイミー・バーンズ（UXリサーチャー、元Meta）**
**トークテーマ：森林浴でキャリアのバーンアウトを解消**
ロンドン出身のJamieは日本のベンチャー企業で働くために今年日本に移住した。前職のMetaでは世界各国でUXリサーチを実施した経験があり、トークでは様々な国におけるUXに対する考え方やUXリサーチの仕方について共有します。

**マックスウェル・フォレスト（合同会社Wayfinder 代表)**
**トークテーマ: デザイナーとしての独立について**
学生時代からUXキャリアをスタートしたMaxは大企業に勤めていた頃から副業を始め、約5年前にフリーランスUXリサーチャーとして独立しています。3年前からは合同会社Wayfinderという法人を設立し、国内外のクライアントのためのUXコンサルをしています。トークでは独立するためのヒントや、独立に向けてやっておくべきことを共有します。

お昼休みにはビル内のレストランで参加者同士でランチを食べに行きます。
