"Exploring exoplanets with the Ariel Space Mission"

What kind of worlds exist beyond our solar system? Ariel is a space mission led by the European Space Agency, set to launch in 2029, with the goal of characterising 1000 exoplanets. This month, Anastasia Kokori (UCL/CSED) will discuss the mission's objectives, the current status, and how interested members of academia and the public can get involved.

Anastasia Kokori started her professional journey in Greece, studying primary education to become a school teacher. During her studies, she was introduced to the fascinating field of space / astronomy by one of her professors. Her passion for sharing science with others led her to pursue a degree in journalism and a master's in science communication. Following this, she did a BSc in astronomy and planetary science in London, while she was working in the Royal Observatory of Greenwich where she performed activities for the public and schools. Today she is doing a PhD in exoplanets at UCL, where she focuses on characterising exoplanet orbital elements for the targets of the Ariel space mission. Her research interests include public engagement with science and astronomy education. She is also working as a public engagement officer for CSED (Center for Space ExoChemistry Data) where she coordinates citizen science projects and school activities.
