Nerd Nite Tokyo #74: The Long View
Details
While the Tokyo Business Meetup is on hiatus, we would like to highlight an event that we believe many of our members would enjoy.
Nerd Nite Tokyo is a social event on Friday nights each month, presenting talks on a wide variety of topics in science, literature, history, the arts, engineering, technology, the environment, and current events. Think of it as a more casual form of TED.
Here's a brief description of this month's event from the organizers:
Every month, we gather some smart speakers and a curious crowd, add a bar, and create something unique. This month, we’re in Sugamo to talk about the big history of space exploration and the systemic drivers of longevity! As always, we will have cafe food and craft beer on tap. We’re also going to try something new: a holiday book exchange!
First, maths major-turned-historian-turned-space-educator Dr. Kate Kitagawa will take us on a whirlwind trip through time and space – from ancient stargazers and forgotten dreamers to moon landings, Mars missions, and microgravity medicine. Then, Crissman Loomis is back again to help us think about health for the new year with a talk on the three systems key to long life!
Meanwhile: do you like books? Do you have books that you want to share? Bring them with you — we’re having our first holiday book exchange!
Drinks (both alcoholic and non) as well as food will be available. Check out the menu here and come early; we’re opening the doors at 7 PM. Drink, meet, and be square-y!
