Nerd Nite Tokyo #77: Lights and Sounds
Details
While the Tokyo Business Meetup is on hiatus, we would like to highlight an event that we believe many of our members would enjoy.
Nerd Nite Tokyo is a social event on Friday nights each month, presenting talks on a wide variety of topics in science, literature, history, the arts, engineering, technology, the environment, and current events. Think of it as a more casual form of TED.
Here's a brief description of this month's event from the organizers:
First, we get a look at how our screens work on the fundamental level. Our first speaker, Dr. Nicki Fairbairn explains how she uses lasers (lasers!) to discover the quantum workings of Organic Light-Emitting Materials – the stuff OLEDs are made of.
Then, we get to hear about what it takes to throw a rock concert for the common good. Stéfan Le Dû is back, this time to share how you too can bring people together and rock out to support environmental and other causes. Deep bass without deep pockets!
Drinks (both alcoholic and non) as well as food will be available. We’re opening the doors to our new, bigger space at 7 PM, so come early, drink, meet, and be square-y!
