Let’s explore one of Tokyo’s most charming traditional neighborhoods and enjoy a real Japanese festival together! 🇯🇵✨
We’ll start from Nippori Station and take a relaxing walk through Yanaka, an old Tokyo neighborhood known for its traditional streets, small shops, temples, and nostalgic atmosphere.
From there, we’ll walk through the Yanaka and Nezu area, chatting and getting to know each other along the way, before finishing at Nezu Shrine, where the annual Nezu Shrine Festival (根津神社例大祭) is taking place. 🏮⛩️
2026 is a special year!
This year is the once-every-four-years Shinkosai Festival, when the shrine’s mikoshi procession travels around the neighborhood before returning to Nezu Shrine.
There will also be traditional festival stalls around the shrine grounds, so we can enjoy the lively festival atmosphere together.
This event is not a formal sightseeing tour. It’s a casual walking and social event where we can walk, talk, explore Tokyo, and enjoy Japanese culture together. 😊

JR Nippori Station, West Exit Ticket Gate
I’ll be waiting near the West Exit ticket gate with a “Meetup” name tag so you can find me easily.

Nippori Station → Yanaka → Yanaka Ginza → Nezu area → Nezu Shrine Festival
We’ll walk at a relaxed pace and have plenty of time to talk with different people along the way.

🏮 About Nezu Shrine Festival
Nezu Shrine’s annual festival is one of the shrine’s major traditional events and has a long history dating back to the Edo period.
In 2026, the special mikoshi procession held once every four years will also take place on September 27.
It’s a great opportunity to experience a more traditional side of Tokyo while meeting new people and enjoying the local atmosphere together.

You don’t need to speak perfect English or Japanese. The purpose of this event is to meet new people, enjoy conversation, and explore Tokyo together.

This is mainly an outdoor walking event.
If the weather is bad enough that we need to cancel or change the plan, I’ll post an update on the event page.

東京の昔ながらの街並みが残る谷中・根津エリアを散策しながら交流し、最後に日本のお祭りを一緒に楽しみましょう！🇯🇵✨
今回は、日暮里駅からスタートして、下町らしい雰囲気が残る谷中エリアをゆっくり散策します。
谷中には、昔ながらの商店街や小さなお店、お寺などがあり、東京の中心部とは少し違った落ち着いた雰囲気を楽しむことができます。
谷中を散策したあとは、参加者同士で会話を楽しみながら根津方面へ歩き、最後は根津神社で開催されている根津神社例大祭へ向かいます。🏮⛩️
2026年は特別な年です！
今年は4年に一度開催される神幸祭の年で、宮神輿が根津周辺の街を巡行します。
根津神社周辺にはお祭りらしい露店なども出る予定なので、散策だけでなく、日本らしいお祭りの雰囲気も一緒に楽しめます。
このイベントは、ガイド付きの本格的な観光ツアーではありません。
歩きながら気軽に話したり、新しい人と知り合ったり、東京の街や日本文化を一緒に楽しむことを目的としたカジュアルな交流イベントです。😊

JR日暮里駅 西口改札
西口改札付近で「Meetup」と書かれた名札を持ってお待ちしています。

🚶‍♂️ 散策ルート
日暮里駅 → 谷中 → 谷中銀座 → 根津周辺 → 根津神社例大祭
ゆっくりとしたペースで歩きますので、散策を楽しみながら参加者同士でたくさんお話ししましょう。
途中でできるだけ色々な人と話せるように、交流しながら歩いていきます。

🏮 根津神社例大祭について
根津神社例大祭は、根津神社で行われる伝統的なお祭りの一つで、江戸時代から続く長い歴史があります。
2026年は、4年に一度行われる特別な神幸祭も9月27日に開催されます。
昔ながらの街並みを散策しながら、最後に日本らしいお祭りを楽しめるので、普段とは少し違った東京を体験できるイベントです。
日本人の方はもちろん、日本の文化に興味がある外国人の方にもおすすめです。
