Beach Vacation in Paradise on Ocracoke Island, OBX, NC.
Details
Have you always wanted to go to Paradise but didn't know where it was located? Look no further because we found it on Ocracoke Island, Outer Banks (OBX), NC. It is better than Negril, Jamaica, or Key West, with 16 miles of almost deserted beach; it's your own private island! Its beach was rated better than Hawaii for multiple years.
Carpool available. You can go for one or two weeks. There are two different options: a private bedroom with two twin beds (there are two rooms for $750 each - no sharing) or a king bedroom perfect for a couple ($1000). It's expensive to stay on this island as it is paradise. Hotels cost about $250+/night. Please contact me via text message at 301-466-5113 or message me here if you want to go.
The cottage has WiFi, washer/dryer, kitchen (fully equipped & dishwasher), dining area, one full bathroom and two half bathrooms (and an outside shower) and living room with cable TV and movies and games and books, and a huge screened-in porch overlooking the wildlife filled marsh (birds mostly). Porch has a picnic table, rocking chairs, and chairs, and there's a deck. Off street parking. Sheets and towels are not provided so either bring your own or rent them both for $30. (Don't forget your beach towels!)
There are no hotels/motels or houses on the beach because Ocracoke Island is a wildlife preserve. Very few people live there (~600) or go to all the beach spots, so in some spots on the beach you can go naked if you wish! They have great restaurants and a fresh seafood market and a marvelous grocery store.
Activities: There's parasailing (~$60-80), sailing (sunset sail $50), fishing trips and boat rentals, 4x4 Jeep rentals (~$125/4 hrs.), bikes ($45/wk.), kayaks and canoes (~$85/wk.), stand up boards, all day tours of nearby historic Portsmouth island with deserted beach and perfect shells (~$40), golf cart rentals, two different places to go on nature hikes (free), wild horses penned up, great food at their gourmet and regular restaurants and cooking out on our grill with fresh fish from the seafood market and wine tasting events ; it's a surreal place. Or you can just relax and read a book. A week isn't enough!
You can be on your own most of the time if you choose, but if you like we can get together for special events like sunset sail, nature hikes, excursion to Hatteras, Portsmouth boat trip, live bands, and some dinners and lunches. You don't have to hang with us all the time, you can do whatever you like! We usually watch movies and play games at night; Poker, Yahtzee, Dominos, Scrabble, Rummikub, Qwirkle etc. Bring your favorite game and we'll play it.,
You can send money via a check (I'll send you my address) or you can give me cash in person, and I'll write you a receipt. I do not do Venmo anymore because they charge me a transaction fee and then the IRS taxes me! Contact me if interested and we'll work out the details. Possible monthly payment plan if needed ($250 deposit and $100/mo. for 5 months).
Look at last year's pictures in our MeetUp photos under 'One room left with twin bed...' and 'Beach Vacation in Paradise' of the inside and outside of the house and the island and beaches and some activities like swimming in the ocean, kayaking in the sound, horseback riding on the beach, nature path and Springer' point, wine tasting, dinner, etc.
You can shorten your drive by 2.5 hrs. and save on gas if you take the ferry from Swan's Quarters, NC that costs $15! Well worth it and highly recommended. Make your reservation ahead of time. Here is the link for the $15 ferry (last one is at 4:30 pm but be there by 4 pm and don't be late!):

Alternatively, you can drive to Kitty Hawk area and spend the night the night before (that's what I do as there is a great restaurant down the road called Collington' Cafe).
No smoking is allowed in the house, but you can smoke on the side deck. No dogs allowed but you can board your dog at 'Sandy Paws' down the road for reasonable prices (~$20/night). I am boarding my dog there. Janet does a great job taking care of them and does private walks for each dog four times a day. In addition, you can take your dog out and put them back any time of day or night and multiple times if you like. SmacNally's allows dogs and so do some restaurants and bars like Zillies.
I can text you the address and door code so you can go directly to the house after 5 pm or we can meet at SMacNally's for dinner on the water first and then go to the house. Your choice.
All aboard, mates!
