What we’re about

Welcome!
This group is dedicated to painting outdoors directly from nature while exploring the breathtaking landscapes of the Santa Monica Mountains. Together we wander gentle trails, discover inspiring viewpoints, and settle in to paint creek beds, oak groves, coastal light, and canyon vistas.
What We Do
🎨 Plein-air painting in signature places like the Inn of the 7th Ray and hidden Topanga sites
🌿 Nature walks to discover fresh perspectives and scenic spots
🖌 Watercolor is the preferred medium but gouache, sketching, and pastels sometimes used
☀️ Excursions into Red Rock or Field Trips and Camping in places like Joshua Tree
📸 Photo reference walks for composition and color study (bird watching too!)
Who is Welcome
Experienced plein-air artists, beginners who want to learn, and anyone who feels at home in nature with a sketchbook in hand. This is a relaxed, supportive group — no judgment, just creativity and fresh air.
Based in Topanga Canyon
Topanga Canyon is alive with texture and color: sandstone curves, shimmering grasses, bird calls, and ever-changing light. Each outing offers a new palette, a new mood, and a chance to slow down and truly see.
