Cancelled: Topeka Riverbank Restoration Volunteer Workday
Details
I’ll be volunteering at this event organized by Friends of the Kaw, and thought others might be interested in joining. The meetup location is the Kaw River state park boat ramp, and the map link is below. The RSVP link is also below. It looks like a good cause and a great way to get some fresh air!
Join Friends of the Kaw, Native Lands Restoration Collaborative, KDWP, the City of Topeka Utilities Dept. and Shawnee County Research and Extension for a Spring 2024 volunteer restoration workday.
We'll learn a little about why this work matters, then we'll remove invasive plant species and plant the riverbank with beneficial natives. Native plants protect the river by slowing and filtering runoff and preventing erosion - and they're beautiful!
Bring work gloves, loppers, a trowel or shovel, and water to drink.
An RSVP is requested to https://bit.ly/TopekaSpring2024. Email questions to Kim Bellemere at kim.bellemere@kansasriver.org.
