Every new technology going back to the invention of fire has proved to be a double edged tool. New tech can cut like a surgical scalpel or kill like a sword. Iron gave us better ploughs but also sharper spearheads. Silicon chips give us laptops but also death dealing drones.

What does AI promise us? Better productivity but unemployment? More knowledge but more surveillance? Longer life but subtler oppression? Is it a new age of freedom or the rise of skyNET?

AI is giving us better means to whole new art forms but also a plague of plagiarism. Ask any prof about it!

Steven Hawking called AI the greatest threat to humanity. "What if our tech neo-masters suddenly notice oxygen rusts there metal connectors? Hmm, let's burn away all oxygen from the face of the Earth! Huzzah!"
