In today’s evolving social landscape, women—freed from the historical constraints of financial dependence and biological imperatives—are increasingly autonomous. Liberated from the inexorability of economically compelled marriages, many are embracing new paths that defy traditional expectations. These choices are not only different—they’re empowered, unapologetic, and socially transformative.
Conversely, men it would seem, are struggling. Women are expecting more and better from them. A post on Instagram recently stated that “men are having a hard time right now because this is the first generation of men being held fully accountable to co-create social fabric with women. The narrator said that our cultures have never encouraged men to develop the social skills necessary to participate in healthy relationships because privilege has made it unnecessary to do so. That work was left to women.” The narrator didn’t blame men for this, she blames systems, “paternalism, late-stage capitalism and strenuous economic structures.”
Whatever the cause, we have a problem.
There is massive and hostile pushback from large segments of the male population who decry the evils of feminism and insist that all will be well if women “remember their place” and return to the values and behaviors of the “trad” wife. Why should men have to adapt?
