**We’re seeking experienced volunteers to help make our 4th annual TAMF 5K a fantastic event!** SRC members, The Alex Manfull Fund needs dependable volunteers with some race experience (as participants or volunteers) to help us make this year’s event another success. It’s happening on *June 13 at Jennie Dean Park* in Arlington, which is just a short walk from our home base at Dudley’s. If you can lend a hand with setting up and taking down the tents, putting up signs along the course, helping out at the tables, getting the medals ready, or setting out refreshments after the race, we’d be thrilled to have you! Having volunteered at a race before is a plus, but it’s not a must. Just bring your enthusiasm for supporting a great cause. *Arrival time:* Set up kicks off at 6am on June 13, 2026, so please plan to arrive early. (If you were planning to get in an early run, wear your sneakers and we can send you out to tasks along the course😜👟) *Duration:* About 3 hours. The race starts at 8am and most participants will finish by 9am so we can start picking up signs along the course and letting folks go as activities wind down. This Saturday lets run to the National Mall! We will start at Roosevelt Island at the crosswalk in the center of parking lot. (Note there is an alternative meeting spot, it is right on the Custis trail, on the North side of Gateway Park, near Langston Blvd and Lynn St; it will be clearly marked as the meeting spot if conditions are bad on a given Saturday. Ignore this unless told otherwise. Afterwards stay for coffee, we'll wander up to Rosslyn and either meet in Compass or, if the weather is nice enough, at the Plaza opposite the Metro. There are parking lots at Roosevelt Island and above the Continental Lounge. There are also meters and pay garages. DIRECTIONS: For those of you driving to Roosevelt Island, please note that the parking lot is only accessible from the NORTHBOUND lane of GW parkway. You will see it right after the Roosevelt Bridge. Also whenever it is warmer the parking lot fills up really quickly. You are strongly advised to use alternative travel or park in Rosslyn. They do ticket illegally parked cars at the island!! METRO: Orange or blue to Rosslyn. From N. Moore St, turn left; right onto 19th St; cross Lynn St. and turn left; take the trail on the right just before the Key Bridge.

Lets go for a nature walk of approximately 1 mile at Robinson Nature Center in Columbia ([map link](https://www.howardcountymd.gov/sites/default/files/2021-03/RobinsonTrailMap.pdf)). Afterwards we can explore the indoor exhibits. Unfortunately, Robinson doesn't allow dogs (since they can scare away the wildlife). See below for a full description from Robinson's website. Prior to the walk, a few of us are meeting at Freetown Farm for the [Repair Cafe](https://sites.google.com/view/transitionhowardcounty/events/repair-cafe) which starts at 2pm. This is a place where you can bring your broken items to be fixed for free (please note: this is not an *actual* cafe, just a cute name for a place to meet and get your stuff fixed). If you have something to be fixed, I recommend signing up in advance (see link above) and showing up early. You can also mention in the comments if you plan to be there so we can look for you. Afterwards we can plan to get something to eat if anyone's interested. Great Sage and other restaurants with vegan options are nearby. Portions of the trail are paved, while the majority of the trails traverse rugged, wooded terrain. The paved portions of the trail are wheelchair- and stroller-accessible. For safety reasons, the trail may be closed if there is maintenance scheduled or if there are high winds. **What You Can Expect** Along our trails, you will encounter a stream crossing and views of the Middle Patuxent River. The trails are non-surfaced and take approximately 20-30 minutes to hike. Along the trails, you can enjoy a variety of trees marked by arboretum signage generously donated by the Howard County Forestry Board. Please pay admission or purchase an annual pass if you plan to use our trail so that we may continue to maintain the trail. **Trail Rules** Please stay on our trail, marked with the yellow trail hiker symbol. Do not make your own trail. Bikes are not allowed on our trails as the trails are narrow and we do not want our walking patrons to be disturbed. **Dog Policy** Keep the Nature Center wild! We request that you refrain from bringing a dog to the Nature Center or the Nature Center trail. Many visitors come to the Nature Center to see birds and other wildlife that dogs scare away. Additionally, the Nature Center serves a large number of children who may be scared of dogs. We want children to feel safe and to have the chance to enjoy the wildlife. Please note that the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks maintains numerous trails on which leashed dogs are welcome. Service animals trained to assist patrons with disabilities are welcome in the building and on the trails when harnessed."

**Meet at the trail head at the Sweetgum picnic area.** Come out and join us on the newly surfaced, rolling hills of Greenbelt National Park. This run through Greenbelt National Park consists of two loop that comes out to roughly 3 miles. With 3 hills (run twice), this is a great way to get hills in before breakfast. Both walkers and runners are welcome.

We meet on Sundays at 8 a.m. for training runs on some of DC's best trails, including Rock Creek Park and the surrounding area. We typically meet at either Peirce Mill in Rock Creek Park, or Roosevelt Island, depending on the route. All paces and levels of trail experience are welcome for these runs, which range in distance from 6 to 9 miles.

Weekly Saturday group ride, starting at Handy Bikes Retail Showroom. Come ride with locals in the area! This group ride is for average folks who want to go for an average ride. It's not quite a coffee ride, but it's definitely not a race! Routes will vary around the area, with an average speed around 14 mph (minimum of \~10 MPH) for around 15-30 miles. We'll be on pavement so bikes with smooth tires are encouraged, **helmets are mandatory**. Open to any riders who are willing and able to ride with a group including Class 1, 2, and 3 e-bikes.
