Public Speaking & Leadership Meeting at Blue Danube Leaders Toastmasters Club
**Discover the Power of Public Speaking & Leadership — Join the Blue Danube Leaders!**
Are you looking for a new hobby that's not only fun but also helps you grow?
Join us at **Blue Danube Leaders**, a Toastmasters club where you can improve your **public speaking**, **leadership**, and **communication** skills - all in a friendly, encouraging environment.
Whether you’re just starting out or are already a seasoned speaker, you're welcome as our guest.
**What happens at a Meeting?**
Our meetings follow a structured, interactive format:
* **Welcome and Introduction**
The meetings begin with a warm welcome from the Club President and the host (called *Toastmaster of the Evening)*. Then, we do a short introduction round where everyone - guests too - say a few words on the evening's topic.
* **Word of the Day**
A challenge that builds your language skills and sharpens your attention to word choice. A special word is introduced and everyone is invited to use this word whenever they speak.
* **Table Topics**
This is an exciting segment! Volunteers - guests too! - are invited to speak for 1-2 minutes on a surprise question or topic. It's a great way to practice thinking on your feet.
* ***Short Break of 10 minutes***
* **Prepared Speeches**
* Members deliver speeches prepared ahead of time, usually 5-7 minutes in length. Each speech is a step in the Toastmasters learning pathway.
* **Evaluations**
Every speech will be thoughtfully evaluated by a designated Evaluator. These evaluations focus on strengths, improvement tips, and encouragement. It's a crucial part of the Toastmasters experience.
* **Role Reports**
Throughout the meeting, members take on supportive roles that ensure the flow of the evening and give everyone a chance to grow.
**Be our guest!**
This meetup is open to guests.
Toastmasters have a separate platform for the member registration. There are always 10+ people in the meeting.
Join us at **18:45 CET** for a casual **Meet & Greet**;
The program starts **sharp at 19:00 CET.**
After the meeting, we often head to a nearby spot for food or drinks - a great way to relax and connect!

PCE Philosophic Conversation in English
PCE - "Philosophic Conversation in English" is a discussion event in English language which focuses on psychology, philosophy, self-consciousness and self-realization. The conversation is based on inclusive discussion rules. We will meet at at a restaurant where we will have a private room exclusively reserved for our event.
At the beginning we will choose the two topics to discuss. Everybody can suggest a topic. Afterwards we will vote what topics to discuss. The person who suggests a winning topic will start the discussion by explaining his/her idea.
Afterwards everybody gets his/her chance to make a statement. But you can also decide to remain silent and only listen, if you prefer that. We have a time limit for statements, so that everybody has enough time to speak. It is not allowed to interrupt somebody who is speaking. After a statement everybody can ask a question and the speaker will answer.
After the first part there will be a 15 minutes break before we start the second part.
Everybody is welcome to our event: We are interested in your thoughts and opinions! It is no problem if you arrive late and you can also leave whenever you want.
Please don't bring pets to this event because the room is usually very crowded. Please make sure to register for the event to secure your seat!

**Unbreakable by Design: The Secret Tech of Antifragile Software**
How to turn pressure into performance? Anti-fragility of a software characterizes the benefit derived from the variability in faults and errors that have effected the system. Dependable software systems can learn from incidents & poor practices, how to avoid and to deal with them, to increase availability and performance. Despite their growing complexity and increasing size, modern software applications must satisfy strict quality requirements that impose short defect fixing and release cycles. To reduce the developers teams workload, and pressure to produce high-quality software on time, many software engineering tools and concepts are subject to continuous extensive development and improvement.
In this talk, we will take a closer look at the technical aspects of anti-fragile software systems and how teams deal with errors and reliability. Through the technical analysis of anti-fragility and resilience we will discuss the advantages and drawbacks of systems and techniques, and not at least the relation between anti-fragility in the development process and the anti-fragility of the resulting software product. The audience can expect the topics such as design & operating principles, fault tolerance, fault handling, e.g. automatic software repair, fault injections, and TDD. The overview of methods and principles should encourage developers to adopt anti-fragility and resilience principles into their software architectures.

**Heaps of Trouble -- Debugging Java OOM**
This presentation dives into the practical art of diagnosing Java OutOfMemory errors.
We begin with a concise overview of how the Java heap is structured and managed,
then move to the command line with jmap—demonstrating how to force heap dumps on demand
and extract live histograms to spot memory hogs at a glance.
Next, we switch to VisualVM for a hands-on look at opening, inspecting, and—crucially—comparing
heap dumps to pinpoint leaks and growth patterns between states.
The session culminates with advanced techniques: writing JavaScript snippets inside VisualVM
to traverse the heap graph, filter objects, and automate custom analyses that go beyond the
built-in tooling.
Whether triaging a production incident or hardening an application, attendees will leave with
actionable tactics to turn “heaps of trouble” into clear, debuggable insights.
**About the Speaker**

Architecture & Development in the New
We are living through one of the most transformative shifts in software development history. AI is accelerating the pace of change faster than our architectures, teams, and processes can keep up — and that raises hard questions we can no longer defer.
This meetup brings together engineers, architects, and tech leaders to have an honest conversation about where we are headed.
**Topics we'll explore:**
* **AI Burnout & the Human Side of Acceleration** — What happens to developers when the tools move faster than the people using them?
* **Supervising AI Models in Production** — Who is responsible when the model decides?
* **Brain Drain & Talent Shifts** — Is the industry losing deep expertise to abstraction layers?
* **The Future of SDLC** — How do we design software lifecycles when generation is instant but understanding is not?
* **Future Interfaces** — What will human-computer interaction look like in 5 years?
* **Mass Code & Maintainability** — Are we building a mountain of technical debt we will never be able to climb?
* **Security by Architecture** — How do we ensure end-to-end security when the stack is more complex than ever?
📅 **Date:** June 16th 🕕 **Time:** 18:00 📍 **Location:** Accenture Börsengebäude, Schottenring 16, Wien 1010, Future Camp
**Headline Speaker:** "How the SDLC changed with AI" , Michael Polonskiy
**Panel:**
* Michael Polonskiy, Accenture
* Mathias, Dangl, Fab4mind
* David Leitner, SQUER
* Peter Jaschke, Accenture

"Metal Slinger" by Rachel Schneider
Join us as we discuss our June pick: Metal Slinger by Rachel Schneider!
Book description:
Even though she's not one of them, Brynn has spent her life among the Alaha, training to be a guard and waiting for the chance to attend the annual market hosted by the Kenta–the very same people who exiled her adopted community to a life at sea. Going to the market is a rite of passage eagerly anticipated by all young guards, but Brynn does not anticipate breaking a century-long peace treaty while there. Nor does she plan for the intense encounter with an enemy soldier that now threatens to unwind the fragile coexistence between their people–and everything Brynn once believed about herself to be true.
Brynn's loyalty to the Alaha is tested when the truth of her identity is brought to light by this soldier who's taken an oath to bring her back to where she belongs. Narrowly escaping death on the violent high seas, Brynn's connection to the Alaha is further tested when she learns about the world of magic she's been denied. She was once certain of her fate and where she belonged, but the dark, knowing eyes of this stranger have her questioning everything, including her heart.
Packed with knife fights and seafaring adventure, METAL SLINGER is the smash-hit start to the romantic fantasy duology, the Fire & Metal series

## **The Ideal Group Leader**
The ideal group leader
* Has a born-in passion for mental health, movement, connecting with nature and building community.
* Has 5 extra hours per week to dedicate to a meaningful cause for at least one year. Yes, you can leave any organization at any time and we can also ask you to leave, but we are building with legacy in mind and we need people who can commit and be ALL IN on this mission to build with us.
* Is independently financially stable with the ability to volunteer with no expectation of pay. This is a deeply beautiful journey of service that all participants commit to at Speak Your Mind.
* An ability to manage groups with high emotional intelligence and desire for human connection.
* An ability to self-motivate and market/promote their group on Facebook and other social platforms.
* Nature informed therapy or clinical therapists/psychologists a plus.
## **Our Impact**

Since launching, we have helped thousands find support, connection, and healing through our Outdoor Movement Groups. 100% of participants surveyed have reported:
* A noticeable improvement in mental clarity and emotional well-being.
* An increase in social connection and a sense of belonging.
* Said they would return again.
We believe mental health should be accessible, community-driven, and rooted in nature. Join us and take the first step toward a more connected, grounded, and supported version of yourself.
### **Why Our Groups are Donation-Based**
Our Outdoor Movement Groups are made possible through a donation-based model. This approach allows us to keep our events accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances, while also ensuring that we can continue expanding our reach. It’s a great way to pay it forward and support the growth of this beautiful mission!
Every contribution helps us:
* **Cover Essential Costs** – Donations allow us to pay essential legal, marketing, insurance, and admin costs as well as nourish the important people who run the organization.
* **Grow Our Mission** – With your support, we can bring these healing experiences to thousands more people in the future and execute our long term plan to expand across the USA, affecting up to 500,000 people per year.
By choosing to contribute, you’re not just leading an event—you’re helping build a mental health movement that supports long-term well-being and connection for all during a severe mental health epidemic.
