📚 #InPursuit – A Book Club for Builders, Thinkers, and Doers
📚 #InPursuit is a book club for entrepreneurs, creatives, and curious minds who know personal growth fuels business growth.
**See a lot of RSPVPs and wonder how it works? We'll break up into groups of 6-8 to share our insights, then swap groups after 30-45min so you can maximise learning from everybody!**
*Note: this even is not organised by or affiliated with The State Library of Victoria*
**That's what #InPursuit is all about**
It’s not a traditional book club, it’s a space for people who are actively designing a better life through the pursuit of business, creativity, and personal growth. This event is for anyone #InPursuit of better business, life and relationships.
Instead of reading the same book, we each come prepared to share one powerful insight from something we’ve read in the past 3-months. Anything non-fiction that’s moved us forward.
Whether it’s a mindset shift, a productivity system, a new philosophy, or just a truth that punched us in the gut. This is a place to unpack it together and hear what others are learning too.
We’re not just here to *read*. We’re here to *integrate*. Because when we grow, our business and our lives grow too.
**🔍 Why Join? You'll leave with:**
* 5–10 fresh insights from books you may never have picked up
* Deeper awareness of how others think, lead, and evolve
* New connections with people walking a similar path toward purpose, results, and impact
This isn’t a lecture. It’s a room full of people building themselves while they build the thing.
**📖 How It Works**
First time? No pressure to share, just come curious.
We'll break up into groups of 6-8 and share our insights, then swap groups so you can maximise the learning!
Returning? Bring one idea you’ve read about in the last 3-months and be ready to speak on:
1. What did you learn?
2. How did it shift your perspective about the world or yourself?
3. How has it changed the way you show up or behave?
We keep it structured, but flexible. After sharing, we open up to Q&A, personal stories, challenges, and deep dives. Some of the best insights come from the conversations *after* the share.
**🧠 Who This Is For**
* Entrepreneurs or side-hustlers finding their footing
* Business owners, and doers building toward better
* Curious minds who love ideas but care more about action
* People tired of shallow conversations and hungry for growth
If you’re working on something—or becoming someone—this space is for you. It’s a practice ground for people who want to grow forward.
We’re all #InPursuit of mastery, momentum, and the kind of success that starts from within.
**Map on how to get there**
We're in the Create Quarter on the ground level (back right of the Quad as you enter from Swanson St). We'll likely be on a long table together.
https://www.slv.vic.gov.au/sites/default/files/SLV-EnglishMap_Jan25.pdf
*If there is no room at a table I'll post on the event page that we'll be going to Mr. Tulk Cafe, which is on the corner of the library at Swanson St and La Trobe St.*

Coffee Catchup - Fitzroy Gardens ☕
Instead of having coffee while watching Netflix, we’re coming together as a community, connecting in person, sharing tips, providing support wherever we can AND having coffee together ☕.
* **What We’re About**
You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with, so join us — and be part of a community that rises above circumstances and creates opportunities. Inspire and be inspired by those who make things happen.
It's a relaxed, organic space to connect with like-minded people and network—genuinely talking, learning from each other, and connecting over shared interests.
* **What to Expect**
Casual Meetups: We gather semi-regularly at a local café to chat about everything from stepping outside your comfort zone to business ideas, creative projects, and building a life aligned with your purpose. It’s relaxed, easy, and welcoming—no need to have anything “figured out.”
An Easy-Going Space: We keep things simple and low-pressure. Once everyone arrives, we ease in with some light conversation and naturally break into smaller groups.
Networking: Feel free to introduce yourself or let people know what you're working on if you feel like it. And if anyone wants to quickly shout out what they’re working on or looking for before we settle in, go for it—it’s a great way to spark new conversations.
* **Host Support**
If you’d like a one-on-one chat with me about your business, just tap me on the shoulder. I’ll be floating around and happy to make time for you.
**Quick note for the day:**
With free public transport this summer, taking the bus or tram might be even more convenient than driving. We might go for a walk in the Fitzroy Gardens if the weather isn't too crazy. Just remember to wear comfy shoes :)

SQL Server 2025 delivers a major round of improvements across performance, security, manageability, and hybrid connectivity, and this session gives you a practical, no‑nonsense tour of what matters most. We’ll cover enhancements to the core engine, query processing, storage, and availability that benefit DBAs and developers regardless of where SQL Server runs. Intro to GitHub Copilot: Your AI Pair Programmer - Chris Steele
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you.
The building address is 4450 Bridge Park
The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400
**Abstract**
GitHub Copilot is rapidly changing how developers write, understand, and maintain code. Powered by generative AI and deeply integrated into modern development environments, Copilot acts as an intelligent coding assistant, helping developers move faster while maintaining quality and focus.
In this session, we’ll explore what GitHub Copilot is, how it works, and where it fits into a real-world developer workflow. We’ll break down what Copilot can (and cannot) do, where it can be used, and how licensing differs for individuals and organizations. Most importantly, this talk goes beyond theory with a live, hands-on demo showcasing Copilot inside the IDE and on GitHub, demonstrating how it can assist with code generation, refactoring, learning new APIs, and accelerating day-to-day development tasks.
Designed for developers, technical leads, and engineering managers, this session provides a practical introduction to AI-assisted development, highlights best practices for getting value from Copilot, and closes with guidance on how to continue learning and evolving alongside this rapidly advancing tool.
