New Years Ice Bathing in the Danube đ§đđĽł
**Weekly Sunday cold plunge in the Danube.**
Come with us for a swim or just a dip in the Danube to test your limits and build your resilience to cold!
**The water is going to be** around **5°C or a bit less.** (We're in single digits! đĽś)
**Bring your swimsuit, towel, and warm clothes.** If you want, you can also bring extras like warm water (to pour over your feet after the dip to warm up faster), tea, snacks, water shoes, hat â anything that makes the experience more comfortable or fun for you and others!

Start 2026 Moving: New Yearâs Day Walk at the MĂźhlwasser

A bit short notice, but maybe just right for a fresh start:
**Tomorrow, January 1st, 2026**, Iâm planning a relaxed New Yearâs walk along the **MĂźhlwasser**. Perfect for getting off the holiday couch, collecting a few easy steps for your New Yearâs resolutions â and with a bit of luck, catching some winter sunshine đ¤ď¸
**Meeting point:**
đ **U2 station Stadtlau**, ground floor, opposite the pharmacy (Exit **KaisermĂźhlenstraĂe)**

From there, weâll start the **MĂźhlwasserrunde**, an easy and scenic loop through the Lobau: calm (and cold) Danube side arms, forests and wide open paths â quiet, flat and ideal for a gentle start into the year.

* Elevation gain: minimal (mostly flat)

Weâll walk at a comfortable, social pace and take short breaks as needed. There are no huts or restaurants along the way, so please bring your own snacks and drinks (at least **1 liter of water**).
It will be cold, so dress warmly and wear sturdy winter-appropriate shoes. Some sections may be muddy or slightly icy, depending on the weather â nothing dramatic.
Some people from my other group will also join.
As always: this is a **free, private leisure activity**. Iâm not a certified hiking guide, and participation is at your own responsibility and risk.

We'd like to welcome you to our FREE Sahaja Yoga meditation meetings hosted by Wolfgang, Hamid, Anil, Shantanu & friends which take place in Vienna â 7pm Thursdays.
With Sahaja Yoga Meditation we normally sit on chairs to achieve yoga, effortlessly & spontaneously. So there is no need for mats and no special clothing required.
We are all volunteers of a Charity association and have many years of experience in offering free Sahaja Yoga Meditation classes.
All across the globe, many are seeking new sources of energy. Meanwhile, the most transformative energy of all is hiding in plain sight, within us. It's natural, sustainable, and infinitely renewable. It's called inner kundalini energy. And everyone already has it â everyone!. It is often likened to an inner feminine or motherly energy which automatically knows about us and what is needed to help us restore balance and harmony within our subtle being. It works spontaneously, effortlessly, organically and cannot be paid for.
The classes are designed to help those attending get into a genuine meditative state, which can be felt tangibly. It is quite effortless and spontaneous.
The free classes feature introductory talks, video's, practical workshops and general question and answer opportunities, making them perfect for seekers trying to establish a state of yoga, and they are available across Vienna most evenings and throughout Austria.
The idea is that you don't do yoga - you Achieve Yoga!
Sahaja Yoga Meditation is a simple, time-honored technique. It helps those who enjoy it, reduce stress and increase wellness and health holistically. It brings better focus and helps people become more centered and better balanced. Anyone can do it.
Founded by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, Sahaja Yoga Meditation is a world wide movement for peace and self awakening.
All the meetings and classes are free of any charge. Each week we go through simple meditation techniques, often with guided meditations to help reduce stress and achieve the peace of true meditation.
We share tips on how to help stay in balance during the day and how to meditate at home. The meditation is based on connecting with the inner chakras (energy centres) and balancing the subtle body.
The tradition and aims of meditation are explained which in essence is to be in the present with no mental activity or thoughts about the past or the future.
Occasionally there are 1 day retreats to help those interested, deepen their individual experience and hear advice and tips from those who have been practicing for some time. Itâs ultimately all about getting into âthoughtless awarenessâ, a natural state of being.

You feel relaxed and you feel a deep sense of calm. Now you can also feel your chakras (energy centres) and through the meditation techniques learnt along the way you can understand the vibrations of your own energy centres. Of course, there are many people who practice Sahaja Yoga Meditation who can teach you a great deal about the yoga & meditation and its various techniques. However, all that you need is ultimately within you.
Itâs everywhere.
Sahaja Yoga is practiced in almost every country in the world. So, no matter where you travel you can always locate a local Sahaja Yoga Meditation programme that you can attend. Whenever you get the chance, and no matter where you are, You try to link up with other Sahaja Yoga practitioners and enjoy a collective meditation. (Meditating with others is a much deeper and more powerful experience than meditating alone.)
Itâs portable.
You donât need to take anything with you to meditate: no mats, no potions, no special clothing or books. You can meditate anywhere â in a quiet room or on a noisy bus; at the beach or watching a movie. Thoughtless awareness (the state of meditation) is easy to achieve if you keep meditating daily, and it can be achieved in almost any situation.
It makes sense.
Everything youâll learn will make sense. There is a lot of common sense in Sahaja Yogameditation, and even though not everything was known to you (for example, the chakras and their respective qualities), once you have a chance to learn more about the meditation, it feels very natural and comfortable.
Everybody does it.
When you begin a hobby or join a new group, you often find that there are particular types of people who are in the group with you. For example, some groups attract younger people, others older folk; some groups have a lot of people who are wealthy, or people who live in a certain part of town. In Sahaja Yoga you will find people from every walk of life, from every demographic â male and female, young and old, rich and poor, every shape, size and colour, with varying interests, languages and beliefs. You donât have to be a certain type of person to do Sahaja Yoga meditation. It is one of those rarities: something for everybody.
You feel good.
Without fail, every time you sit down to meditate you feel better. Whether you manage to have a deep meditation or not makes no difference, and as a consequence your family and friends are reaping the benefits.

After the beautiful workshop with Julia FĂźsselberger and Eric Ziegelbauer on Musical Improv, the idea was born to create a venue to learn and practice singing and to use these skills in improv. So here we have it: the IICVIC (we're still taking ideas for names...Roman numerals? 98 5 99? That would be the postal code for Olympia, WA.... Other ideas? Send me a message!)
Come and learn how to use your voice and practice and train your instrument. Then apply your good work in some fun with circle songs and improvised singing. Every other Thursday at Die Schenke, Piaristengasse 33, 1080 Vienna.

Wild boar hike to Rudolfswarte and Hochramalpe So. 4.01.2026
Hi everyone,
On **Sunday, 4.01.2026,** I am planning a hike to the Rudolfswarte near Purkersdorf. We start in Purkersdorf bei Wien Sanatorium train stop and hike to Rudolfswarte and on to the wild boar enclosure near Deutschwald, where the wild boars are waiting to be petted and to Untertullnerbach train station. Here is the possibility to go home by train after a 10km hike. For people who want to hike more, we continue to the Hochramalpe and further to Purkersdorf near Vienna train station.
So there are **two hiking options** of different lengths:
1\. Purkersdorf bei Wien Sanatorium train stop to Untertullnerbach station:
Length of the tour: approx. 10km
**Duration: approx. 3.5h**
Altitude difference: approx. 350m up and 300m down
2\. Purkersdorf bei Wien Sanatorium train stop to Purkersdorf bei Wien train station:
Length of the tour: approx. 19km
**Duration: approx. 6.5h**
Altitude difference: approx. 700m up and 700m down
There are also **two possible meeting points**:
1. **Wien Westbahnhof at 8:45 a.m**. on the level of the platforms at the ticket machine next to the many seating areas and next to the InfoPoint of the ĂBB (see picture in the attachment) and leave together at 8:56 a.m. from platform 4. Since Purkersdorf Santorium is still in the Kernzone 100, a ticket of Wiener Linien (or the annual ticket of Wiener Linien) is sufficient for the outward journey. Everyone is responsible for the train ticket.
2\. Or directly at the start of the hike in Purkersdorf bei **Wien Sanatorium train stop at 9:12h platform 2**. Everyone has to bring their own food and drink (at least 1 liter), as we will not stop for a bite to eat. We take two to three breaks to rest and eat as needed.
I will be waiting at Wien Westbahnhof.
Some people from my other group will also join.
I will contact everyone, who has registered, on Friday evening with a weather update. For sure it will become quite frosty on Sunday.
My hikes and mountain hikes are free of charge and purely private joint leisure events. I am not a certified hiking or mountain guide. Participation is at your own responsibility and risk.

Hey Badminton Enthusiasts!
This meet-up is for all levels: beginners, intermediates and experts. Everyone is welcome to join, test their skills and have some fun together!
The host will reserve courts in advance, that means please only register if you really plan to come (or cancel at least 24 hours before the event starts). The fee for this event is 12⏠(for the 2 hours). If you plan on paying in cash, please bring the exact amount as the host might not have any change available.
We are meeting at about 10.55 near the reception by the lounge area (next to the courts). Come a bit earlier so you have time to change into workout/sports clothes. The locker rooms are free to use, but you need to bring your own padlock - or you can also take your bag of clothes upstairs to the courts if you do not have a padlock. Also, bring clean indoor sports shoes, your racket and a water bottle with you.
If you do not have a racket, it is possible to rent rackets from the club, if necessary (3âŹ). Sometimes the host or other members have spare rackets - please ask in the comment section below!
If you are joining our events for the first time, WELCOME! Let the host know that you are new and they will find a place for you. Don't worry, we are an open and friendly group. We are sure you will develop connections with the people in our community in no time!

This event is open for all levels and ages! It is part of the club Sportunion Vienna Badminton Community.
We are playing at USZ Hietzing (Altgasse 6, 1130, close to the U4 station Hietzing).
The hall (GroĂe Halle) is on the second floor. The changing room is on the first floor in the long corridor.
Please bring a racket, sports clothes and shoes and a water bottle.
We provide feather shuttles. You can also likely borrow a racket from one of our players if you need to.
