Teach-In: Navigating the System โ€“ A Disability Justice Workshop
Teach-In: Navigating the System โ€“ A Disability Justice Workshop
Join us for an interactive disability justice workshop with Deloria Patton exploring how disabled people navigate systems, services, and support structures in Austria. Disability justice asks an important question: What would society look like if accessibility, care, and inclusion were built into our communities from the beginning? This workshop combines political education with practical information. Participants will explore how ableist systems create barriers while also learning about the resources, rights, and support services that currently exist. Whether you are disabled, chronically ill, neurodivergent, a caregiver, a support worker, an ally, or simply interested in creating more accessible communities, you are warmly welcome. **What Is Disability Justice?** Disability justice goes beyond legal accessibility requirements. It recognizes that many barriers are created by systems, institutions, policies, and environments rather than by peopleโ€™s bodies or minds. Together, we will discuss: * What disability justice means in practice * How ableism shapes everyday experiences * Why accessibility benefits everyone * The relationship between disability rights and social justice * Community care, interdependence, and collective support * Creating more inclusive spaces and communities **Navigating the Austrian Support System** Many people are entitled to support but never receive it because the process of accessing services can be confusing, overwhelming, and difficult to navigate. This workshop will provide practical information about: * Behindertenpass (Disability Pass) * Pflegegeld (Care Allowance) * Accessible and supported housing options * Social work and counselling services * Eurokey access systems * Heimhilfe and personal support services * Community resources and support networks * Where to start when seeking assistance Participants will gain a clearer understanding of available services and how to access them. **Who Should Attend?** This workshop is open to: * Disabled people * Chronically ill people * Neurodivergent people * Deaf and hard-of-hearing people * Blind and low-vision people * Caregivers and personal assistants * Social workers and community organisers * Family members and friends * Anyone interested in disability justice and accessibility No previous knowledge is required. **About the Facilitator** **Deloria Patton** Deloria Patton is a disability justice advocate and educator dedicated to making information more accessible and helping people navigate systems that often create unnecessary barriers. Through community education, advocacy, and practical support, Deloria works toward greater accessibility, inclusion, and social justice. **Why This Workshop Matters** Disability justice starts with understanding that disabled people are often excluded not because of their bodies or minds, but because systems are designed without accessibility in mind. Many forms of support already exist in Austria. However, accessing them can feel like a full-time job. This workshop aims to make information clearer, more accessible, and more actionable. By understanding both the barriers and the available resources, participants can better advocate for themselves, support others, and contribute to more accessible communities. **Accessibility Information** This event takes place at Villa Vida Cafรฉ, Linke Wienzeile 102, 1060 Vienna. Accessibility features include: * Step-free entrance * Wheelchair-accessible ground floor venue * Accessible toilet * Seating available throughout the event * Service animals welcome * Free drinking water available * Staff and volunteers available to assist when needed If you have additional accessibility requirements, please contact us before the event. We will do our best to accommodate individual access needs. Everyone deserves access to information, support, and community. We look forward to learning together and exploring practical ways to navigate systems while advancing disability justice in Austria.

All I ask is that you come with a good mood, be respectful to everyone, and pay online using the link below. We need to respect current regulations in Vienna, Austria. The main priorities are to have fun and being safe. The drinks are relatively free after the game in the local pub, served to those who have shown fantastic football fair-play skills. Weโ€™ll confirm the location, the pitches, and the dressing room numbers via our dedicated Football WhatsApp group. Keep an eye out for the group messages. See you all soon. Sorin SMS/ WhatsApp +43 6764276984 (please ask to be added to our football groups). We will probably need to confirm your presence if you are coming for the first or second time. Important management rule: \> "No shows" are penalized with 10โ‚ฌ fee\. Please remove your name from the list at least SIX\!\!\! \(6\) HOURS before the event\. Book a place via FootballExperiences\.NET using this link [Kick A Ball via FOOTxp.COM](https://footballexperiences.net/kickaball/) One small final note: Please avoid trying to take justice in your hands. If someone is talking bad, complaining, insulting someone, fouling on purpose or committing the usual football shenanigans, please let the organizers know. Measures will be taken, we assure you. Any misbehavior on your part, such as responding in an obscene way, fighting, or leaving the pitch is not a practical and diplomatic way of resolving the issues (it tends to create more tension and cause more problems). Letโ€™s be respectful and mature and try to enjoy the game we all love. Thatโ€™s why weโ€™re all here. Get to know people from all over the world and have fun! Thank you. Sorin

Dear Data Wizards, We are looking forward to inviting all of you to our next meetup. **IF YOU WISH TO PARTICIPATE IN PERSON, PLEASE REACH OUT TO KRISTIAN DIRECTLY AS WE NEED TO REGISTER YOU IN THE CIRCLE.** **Topics** * What's New - Kristian * Data Quality Testing - Louis * Introduction to DAX User Defined Functions (UDFs) - Marco The session will be recorded and made available on YouTube --> [https://aka.ms/FabricUGYouTube](https://aka.ms/FabricUGYouTube) **Data Quality Testing** A hands-on introduction to data quality in the data warehouse context. The session highlights why data quality is business-critical, outlines different types of tests, explains the distinction between syntactic and semantic validations, and demonstrates how to integrate a step-by-step testing strategy into existing data pipelines. Covering everything from quick wins to advanced monitoring approaches, in a tool-agnostic manner. **Introduction to DAX User Defined Functions (UDFs)** A user-defined function is a DAX formula with parameters that can return values or tables. Parameters can be passed by value or by expression. In this session, you will learn how to define and consume user-defined functions in your semantic model, how to share them in different models, and how to use function libraries created by the community! **Sponsor** We are happy to share that this meetup is kindly sponsored by our partner Altyca, who is hosting the apรฉro for this event. A big thank-you to Altyca for supporting the Fabric & Power BI community and helping us create a great setting for learning, discussion, and networking. **Good to know** We want this group to be a safe environment that encourages open discussion, exchange of ideas and problems you may face. Therefore, we kindly ask that no members will leverage the information for unsolicited acquisitions of new customers or projects. This group builds on trust, and without it we cannot learn from each other and excel on this topic. **Want to be a presenter?** We are always looking for new speaker. If you are interested and would like to show something to the Power BI Meetup Group please feel free to contact us!

Roots: Memory, Migration, Nature & Belonging
Roots: Memory, Migration, Nature & Belonging
**Roots: Memory, Migration, Nature & Belonging** This workshop explores how our memories, identities, and sense of belonging are shaped by the plants and climates we grow up with, and how these relationships change through experiences of migration, movement, and transformation. Whether migration is across countries, cities, languages, or social environments, we carry traces of these places with us, often in ways we do not immediately recognise. Grounded in queer ecology and theory, this workshop approaches nature as a space that challenges fixed categories and celebrates diverse ways of relating, adapting, and existing. **Queer Ecology, Memory, and Migration** Drawing from writers such as Sania Shah and Jessica J. Lee, alongside examples of queerness in flowers and plant life, participants will reflect on their own connections to place, memory, and movement. Together, we will explore questions such as: * What do we carry with us when we migrate? * How do plants, landscapes, and climates shape identity? * What traces of former homes remain with us? * How do we create belonging in new environments? * What can nature teach us about adaptation and transformation? **Creative Reflection and Making** Participants are invited to identify a transformational plant, flower, tree, or natural element that holds personal significance. Through storytelling, group discussion, painting, and speculative making methods, we will explore how reconnecting with these plant memories can help us understand where we come from, how we identify ourselves, and how we root ourselves in the places we inhabit today. Together, we will imagine and create small portable objects inspired by these plants and memories. These creations may become: * Personal holders * Necklaces * Keychains * Magnets * Pins * Other everyday companions These objects will serve as small reminders of memory, movement, belonging, and transformation. **Community, Anti-Racism, and Collective Storytelling** The workshop also engages with themes of anti-racism, the right to existence, community-building, and collective storytelling. Through rounds of sharing and listening, participants contribute to a supportive environment where personal stories become a starting point for understanding broader experiences of belonging, migration, identity, and difference. Sharing personal experiences is welcome but never required. Participants are encouraged to engage in whatever way feels comfortable for them. **Who Is This Workshop For?** This workshop welcomes: * Migrants and refugees * Diaspora communities * LGBTQIA+ people * Artists, writers, and creatives * Nature lovers * Community organisers * People interested in identity, memory, and belonging * Anyone curious about migration, ecology, and storytelling No prior knowledge or artistic experience is required. **Accessibility Information** This event takes place at Villa Vida Cafรฉ, Linke Wienzeile 102, 1060 Vienna. Accessibility features include: * Step-free entrance * Wheelchair-accessible ground floor venue * Accessible toilet * Seating available throughout the event * Quiet spaces available upon request * Service animals welcome * Free drinking water available If you have specific accessibility requirements, please contact us before the event and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Midsummer!- The Wiccan Fellowship Wheel of the Year Open Ritual!
Midsummer!- The Wiccan Fellowship Wheel of the Year Open Ritual!
**In Wicca and other Neo-Pagan traditions the "Wheel of the Year" is central: Eight yearly festivals that echo the seasonal rites of our ancestors.** **This month's celebration is MIDSUMMER!** **Midsummer**, also known as **Litha**, is the radiant crown of the solar yearโ€”the longest day and the height of light. The sun stands at its zenith, spilling golden power across the land, and nature pulses with abundance, vitality, and color. In Wiccan tradition, this is a time of **honoring the peak of life and energy**, when the God is in his full power, and the Goddess, heavy with the promise of harvest, blesses the earth with fullness. Though the light is strong, Midsummer is also a time of **turning**โ€”a sacred pause before the descent begins. From this point onward, the days slowly shorten, and we are reminded that even the brightest fire contains the seed of transformation. The bonfires of Litha call us to celebrate life, to dance and feast, to honor love, passion, and the light within ourselves and the world. It is a time for magic, for communion with the fae and nature spirits, and for affirming joy, strength, and protection. As we stand at the zenith of the sunโ€™s path, we are invited to shine boldly, to embrace our power, and to offer our light in service of what is good, true, and beautiful. ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŒป **TICKETS: You can pay cash at the door (EUR 20) or buy a ticket online HERE (EUR 15):** **[https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fellowship-of-the-western-mysteries-open-ritual-tickets-1979108345337?aff=erelexpmlt](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fellowship-of-the-western-mysteries-open-ritual-tickets-1979108345337?aff=erelexpmlt)** **(Online tickets are non-refundable.)** **The event and the ritual will be held in English** unless otherwise noted. We sometimes do have other groups host rituals, and sometimes they work in other languages. If that is the case it will be noted here. **Doors open at 19:30**. Ritual talk-through will start at 20:00 or so and the ritual will start soon after the talk-through. Ritual length varies but the ritual itself should be over by 21:30 to 22:00. Afterwords there will be time for socializing and merrymaking, so plan to stay longer if you're feeling social and you can. If not of course you can go when you wish. :-) There is an open bar on-site. :-) **Attire:** Street clothes are fine but try to come dressed as much as possible in a single colour- black and white are best. If you have ritual attire (robes etc.) and would like to wear them, feel free. Beginners and experienced practioners alike, as well as the merely curious are welcomed. We will explain everything you need to do before the ritual- it's possible (and completely fine) to jump right in. The environment is friendly and welcoming and newcomers are welcomed! We do a full talk-through before the ritual, explain what the ritual is about and what everyone needs to know and understand, and we'll guide you through the whole thing, so there is really no problem coming if you have no idea what to expect. Run in partnership with our friends at The Hexen/Heiden Stammtisch [Feuerkreise.at](https://feuerkreise.at/forum/index.php)/ [https://www.facebook.com/groups/271329456233561](https://www.facebook.com/groups/271329456233561). **Feuerkreis Verein members receive a discounted entry- EUR 5.** This must be paid at the door and in cash. DAY DJ: Ruby Nyaoro
DAY DJ: Ruby Nyaoro
Day DJ is a weekly series at Villa Vida Cafรฉ. Each Friday, local DJs take over the space and share their sound in a daytime setting. The focus is on new talent, experimentation, and community. This is a place to build sets, try ideas, and connect through music. The format is open and relaxed. You can come to listen, work, meet people, or stay for the full set. The aim is to create a consistent platform where DJs grow their practice and support each other. **DJ Ruby Nyaoro** DJ Ruby Nyaoro brings a groove-driven selection rooted in rhythm and flow. Expect a mix of house music, deep house, Afro house, Afro tech, and tech house โ€” blending funky elements with steady, danceable energy. The focus is less on strict genre lines and more on creating a cohesive atmosphere that moves the room. DJs have played a central role in queer culture. In spaces where queer people were excluded, DJs created environments where identity and expression could exist. Through sound, they shaped rooms, built connections, and guided shared experiences. Many of the sounds and practices that define nightlife today grew out of queer spaces. House, disco, and club culture were shaped by queer communities, especially Black and Latinx scenes. Day DJ continues this history by creating space for new voices and keeping this culture active. **Participate as a DAY DJ** **[https://villavida.at/portfolio-item/day-dj](https://villavida.at/portfolio-item/day-dj?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAYnJpZBExZHhIekNYM2VMYTdLREFFeXNydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR4fBsYcnU5dV9mz3JpeIffyheKyyZL_PQdYmBlkJa9Pz6SRBCqkC2sh7N9lKg_aem_86MrlVYuZApUP-WTrm0WKQ)**
