Day DJ is a new free weekly series at Villa Vida. Each Friday, local DJs can take over the space and share their sound in a daytime setting. The focus is on new talent, experimentation, and community. This is a place to build sets, try ideas, and connect through music. The format is open and relaxed. You can come to listen, work, meet people, or stay for the full set. The aim is to create a consistent platform where DJs grow their practice and support each other. **widdows95** widdows95 blends progressive house, hard house, trance, breakbeat, and UK garage into high-energy sets that move effortlessly between driving rhythms, euphoric melodies, and bass-heavy grooves. Expect a dynamic journey that shifts from deep progressive builds to fast-paced club sounds, keeping the dancefloor moving from start to finish. DJs have played a central role in queer culture. In spaces where queer people were excluded, DJs created environments where identity and expression could exist. Through sound, they shaped rooms, built connections, and guided shared experiences. Many of the sounds and practices that define nightlife today grew out of queer spaces. House, disco, and club culture were shaped by queer communities, especially Black and Latinx scenes. Day DJ continues this history by creating space for new voices and keeping this culture active. We invite local DJs to sign up and play. This is not a paid gig. It is a platform to gain experience, be heard, and be part of a weekly series at Villa Vida. If you want to play, reach out and tell us about your sound.
