KMLF - Speed v Substance: Preserving Knowledge Integrity in the AI Hype Cycle
This month we have our own Sarah Jacobson sharing on **Speed v Substance: Preserving Knowledge Integrity in the AI Hype Cycle**
AI has done something remarkable for knowledge management. It has put us on the executive radar in a way we have never been before. Budgets are being discussed, senior leaders are paying attention and KM is finally being recognised as fundamental to how organisations operate.
But that visibility has come with a catch. The same technology driving the attention has created an expectation of immediacy that sits uncomfortably with what good knowledge management actually requires. People expect answers in seconds because that is what AI promises. Building robust foundations, curating quality content and establishing governance frameworks takes longer than a demo.
This session explores the paradox KM leaders are sitting inside right now and what it means in practice. We will look at where the speed/substance tension is most acute, what happens when AI is deployed on top of poorly managed knowledge and why the organisations getting this right are treating knowledge as infrastructure rather than content.
This is an interactive session. Come prepared to share where you are seeing this tension play out in your own organisation and what you have tried. Expect polling, group discussion and a few deliberate provocations.
Thanks again to MinterEllison, who host the amazing space we meet in each month.
**Session Details:**
* **Date & Time:** 6:00pm AEDST, Fourth Wednesday of each month
* **Format:** Virtual session on Teams
* **Agenda:**
* 6-6:30 pm networking
* 6:30-7:45pm exploration of the topic
* 7:45-8pm wrap up
* 8pm dinner for those interested.
KMLF has run monthly, almost uninterrupted since 1998, serving the Victorian Knowledge Management community with close ties to Change Mgt, Records Mgt, Information Governance and Academic communities.

Tools to Organize for Success!
We all recognize that if things were better organized, people would be better off. We have all had experiences with a business or government, school or a group that was not well organized and we experience the confusion, delays and upsets of trying to deal with disorganization.
On a personal level, trying to get something started - a plan, some new bright idea you had, perhaps starting a new business - without organization can be a nightmare. Organization is a key and often missing factor in personal success. It is also essential for a flourishing family, group, organization or business. Attaining one's goals, no matter how large or small, requires a knowledge and application of organization.

Come along **ANYTIME** between 10.30am and 5.30pm. **Only $20**, pay on the day - BUT PLEASE DON'T COME IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU LIVE WITH FEELS SICK with COVID or FLU!
You know? We know how it is …
You've read the books and looked up stuff online … and you’re bursting with ideas and questions and you want to talk about it with someone … but … your family won’t understand, your friends won’t take you seriously … and don’t even think about your workmates …
That’s why, many years ago, we started Magic Saturdays to provide a safe, comfortable and very pagan space where you can immerse yourself in Witchcraft, Paganism, Magic, Spells, Rituals … everything … nothing is off-limits and there are no stupid questions.
Each Saturday, apart from the obvious conversations, we try to do some magic just so you can get a feel for it. The people that come along range from complete beginners to those that have been living the pagan life for some time. It doesn’t matter. Everyone has something to contribute or some just want to soak up the atmosphere. Either way, whether you come for half an hour or the whole day you’ll feel refreshed, empowered and validated … and you may have even met some of our nature spirits.
Our shop is also open (it doesn’t cost anything if you just want to come and look at the shop), so remember to top up on your magical supplies while you’re here. We now also have a selection of potted herbs for sale including such magical herbs as Mugwort, Rue and Squill.
Tarot readings are also available.
When: Saturday, 25th April …
Time: … anytime between 10.30am & 6.00pm

Putting the 'G' in 'G Spot' and revealing herself as a radical, queer, self-loving act. Gina has been performing internationally in Burlesque, cabaret, and musical theatre for over a decade. A career highlight includes being named one of the Top 50 Most Influential Burlesque Figures worldwide by 21st Century Burlesque in 2021, 2024 and 2025. She has also headlined prestigious international festivals from Perth Australia to all over Europe.
**Daddy Charles**
Daddy Charles is Australia’s favourite f\*\*kboi with a heart (and harness) of gold. The man-bun-wearing, tattooed, bilingual fantasy you didn’t know you needed, Daddy isn’t just here to leave you on read— he’s here to liberate. A dancer, sex worker and shapeshifter, Daddy Charles says fantasise, not fetishise; to see queer trans desire not as taboo, but as something deeply human, and achingly beautiful. Less walking red flag, more walking sexual awakening—with a gentle, consensual grip on your psyche (and maybe your throat).
**Umbra**
Have you ever wondered what would happen if that weird shy theatre kid became a huge slag? Well, Meet Umbra! Stepping out from the dark side of the moon with a shuffle, kick ball change, and a little but of snarl, Umbra endeavors to always bring three things; buffoonery, punk, and all your sordid little lezzy fantasies. So strap in, hold on tight, and let this dyke ride your bike.
**Lemon Pepper Baby**
Stripped, spiced, and freshly freakin’ squeezed Lemon Pepper Baby is rising proud queer Afro Caribbean tease on the scene here to add just the right kick of seasoning to your life. Lemon shines at bringing captivating performances full with energy, blending in her love of comedy and all things sultry to bring you a show you won't forget.
**Hosted by Nolan Void**
You may have heard of burlesque or boylesque, now get ready for Butchlesque. Nolan Void is a butchlesque / drag king performer from rural Canada who now lives in the big city of Melbourne. They are a producer of local drag and variety shows such as The Anti-Valentines Variety Show, The 2025 Australian Election as Told By Drag Kings and a co-producer of T4T: A Transgender Showcase.
ACCESSIBILITY: Please note that Pride of our Footscray is unfortunately not a wheelchair accessible venue. There are two flights of stairs leading up into the bar and no elevator.

The Story So Far: A WiA Reflection Circle
A WiA Collective Wisdom Exchange
At the start of this year, we gathered to look back, set intentions, and imagine the next chapter.
This is the follow-up.
Not a check-in. Not a progress report. A small, facilitated circle to reconnect with what you said mattered — and honestly explore what’s actually happening now.
Together, we’ll explore:
• What you intended at the start of this year - and what that looks like three months in
• What’s surprised you, supported you, or shifted
• What the next chapter needs now that you know what you know
If you were at our January gathering, bring whatever you made or wrote — your word, your artifact, your intention. We’ll look at it with fresh eyes. If this is your first time, you belong here too. You’ll start where we all started: with what’s true right now.
Optional art materials will be available for anyone who wants to reflect creatively alongside conversation. If you brought something home from January, you’re warmly invited to bring it back.
The intention is the same as always: everyone leaves feeling more clear, more connected, and a little lighter.
Space is intentionally limited to keep the experience intimate.
What to Expect
• A small, welcoming circle (not a large meetup)
• Structured conversation so everyone has space to speak
• Reflection, listening, and lived experience — not advice-giving
• Optional creative reflection alongside conversation
• A calm, supportive environment
Who This Is For
Women and underrepresented folks working in or around agile, product, technology, leadership, or organizational change — especially those looking for honest conversation and community beyond frameworks and buzzwords.
Good to Know
• No preparation required
• If you attended in January, we invite you to bring anything you created or wrote (or something that represents your intention at the start of the year) - it’s optional but invited
• Participation is invitational; listening is always welcome
• Creative activities are optional
Agile Coaching Circle -- IN-PERSON

* develop and practice your coaching skills in a peer-to-peer environment
* share current successes and challenges in your work environment and get support from each other
* learn from each other, build better relationships and experiment with new ideas
***NOTE:*** Pre-registration is required for this event. **Please arrive 10 minutes early** to check in at the security desk.
What If Your AI Could Be a Team? - Chad Green
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you.
The building address is 4450 Bridge Park
The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400
You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge.
**Abstract**
GitHub Copilot is powerful, but what if you could scale from a solo AI assistant to an entire team of specialized agents working in parallel? This session introduces Squad: an open-source framework for multi-agent orchestration that lets you define teams of AI agents with specific roles, responsibilities, and expertise.
We'll progress from Copilot basics to the Copilot CLI, explore how Agents add autonomy, and see how Instructions and Skills let you customize agent behavior. Then, the climax: a live demo where a Squad team of 3 agents (Lead, Developer, Tester) stands up and builds a working application in real-time, showcasing true multi-agent collaboration.
Whether you're new to AI or exploring how to scale your use of Copilot, this session will show you what's possible when agents work as a team.
