Midweek (Thursday) ride: Here is a ride via the various trails and roads out northwest, including a quick visit to the historic homestead and cycling through Melbourne Airport on our way to Keilor and back to town from there. -You could exit earlier at a number of spots if time is an issue. *We did a similar ride in March but started and finished at Rushall.* *Please note the starting point and finishing point are different this time.* This ride is suitable for intermediates. There are a few short hills but nothing long. A small amount of gravel (Lilydale topping) won't be a problem for any bike. **Forecast: 14°C.** Mostly sunny. Slight chance of a shower. It's another new venue for us this week. Head down to Brunswick with us to try out a new trivia venue. Co-Conspirators is a small independent brewery and it's always great when we can support our local community. Come down for food, drinks and trivia. Don't think you know much trivia? You don't need all the answers, only a few. Join one of our tables for a fun night with old friends or new. A stress free relaxed night with some locals. You will need to pack a lunch for this ride, we will be departing from Yarraville Station where there is an abundance of Melbourne’s best cafes to purchase lunch but you will need to do this before we depart at 10 am. Also, if you would like a coffee before you get on the road you will need to arrive before 10am where you can enjoy the best of Melbourne’s best yummy café coffee and food and then be ready to go at 10 am. We will take Ballarat Street to Stoney Creek reserve then get on the federation and other Western trails which will take us almost continuously to Point Cook Coastal Reserve and Historic Homestead. After lunch and maybe a beach walk to the Eastern tip of Point Cook we will cycle the coastal trail back to Altona. For those who have parked at Yarraville they can catch the train back to Yarraville. At Altona we can get on the train. Point Cook can be windy so bring woolens and an all weather jacket even if there is a forecast for sunny weather. This ride is for those who are as good at listening to others opinion as they are at expressing their own opinion. On Saturday the 27th of June, William will be hosting a Casual Kite Flying Event. The event will be held at Rosanna Parklands (near Rosanna Train Station), at the open-space bushland opposite the Caltex Service Station, and will run between 10:00am and 12:00pm. This is an event for adults aged 18 and older. All 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s+ welcome It will be a very casual event. We can take turns flying kites and watching the kites, and chatting. No kite flying experience needed. Feel free to bring your own kite, or you can borrow one of William's kites. (I have 2x $10 ones from Rebel sport) Please wear runners or comfortable shoes, as running may be required to get the kites airborne. We will run the event safely. For safety reasons it is important not to fly a kite near power lines. We just have to be careful not to fly the kites anywhere near the power lines near the train line, which is parallel to the parkland and separated by a wire fence. Sometimes the kites can get stuck in trees, this is not so dangerous, but it can be saddening. :( Please help us to ensure the event is safe for all. Rosanna Parklands has lots of open space. Join us on Saturday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking! • What we'll do Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 10AM on Saturday mornings. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: 10:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros. 10:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour. 11:10 - chat / take off / keep writing. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 11A-11:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Open Shelter has teamed up again with Red White and Boom! Friday, July 3rd & we are looking for volunteers to run the event’s alcohol booths. Proceeds from sales go to the Open Shelter’s organization. There are two available shifts: 12-6p & 5-11p. There will be an ipad-like device to process transactions in addition to cash. Everything will be in bottles or cans, so transactions should be very easy. Must be 21+. There are multiple beverage stations along the Civic Center Bridge. The stations are covered and also have beverage trucks next to them, so volunteers can cool off in the trucks. As far as parking, it is suggested those who are coming from the east use the Columbus Commons Garage, and those from the west use the Belle Street Garage. Harry from the Open Shelter will be your contact. Improving will be providing pizza and beverages. 6:30 to 8:00 pm. Main meeting and presentation(s). Topic: This month Chris Pazsint will be talking about Agentic Coding. How does one use CLI Based Agents, and Agentic IDEs such as Cursor, Kiro, Antigravity? How to include agentic coding plugins for IDEs you already love such as Visual Studio Code. We meet on the last Monday of each Month. Presentations are given by members and friends of this group.
