Viennaās English Stand-Up Comedy Open Mic ā Every Monday at The Comedy Pub
## š Mondays Donāt Have to Suck
The weekend might be over ā but the laughter doesnāt stop.
Welcome to **Monday Night Laughs**, Viennaās cozy and community-driven **English stand-up comedy open mic**, where locals, expats, and travelers come together to kick off the week with big laughs and good vibes.
Every Monday night, *The Comedy Pub Vienna* turns into a creative playground for comedians and comedy lovers alike.
Whether itās your first time at a show or your tenth, youāll feel right at home.
Forget Netflix. Forget the Monday blues.
This is your weekly reminder that laughter fixes everything ā especially on a Monday.
## š What Is *Monday Night Laughs*?
Itās not a fancy showcase or a big-ticket headliner night. Itās something much better ā itās *real*.
Here, the mic is open, the drinks are cold, and the laughter is honest.
Youāll see comedians from all over the world ā from total beginners testing their first five minutes to experienced performers working out new jokes for their next tour.
No two shows are ever the same. One moment youāll hear a joke about Austrian bureaucracy, the next about dating disasters in Spain or cultural shocks in Tokyo.
Itās raw, spontaneous, and absolutely unpredictable ā the way live comedy is meant to be.
And because itās all happening in English, the night draws a wonderfully mixed crowd: locals, internationals, and everyone in between.
## šļø For Performers
If youāve ever thought, *āI could do that,ā* this is your sign.
*Monday Night Laughs* is one of Viennaās most supportive and encouraging open mics for new comedians.
No judgment, no pressure ā just a room full of people who love to laugh and want you to succeed.
Itās the perfect place to try stand-up for the first time, or to test new material before your next big show.
The vibe is friendly, relaxed, and full of creative energy ā comedy at its purest form.
Sign-up is open before the show ā come early, grab a drink, and put your name down. Who knows? You might be the next crowd favorite.
## š¤ For the Audience
If you just want to watch, youāre in for a treat.
This is one of Viennaās most authentic live experiences ā a place where you can laugh, relax, and see the future stars of stand-up before they blow up.
Youāll witness comedy in its rawest form: jokes being born, ideas taking shape, and performers finding their voice.
Sometimes itās perfect, sometimes itās weird ā but itās *always* fun.
Grab a beer, find a seat, and enjoy a night full of unpredictable laughter.
## š» The Atmosphere
The Comedy Pub isnāt just a venue ā itās a community.
Itās the heart of Viennaās growing stand-up scene, a space where people come together to connect, perform, and laugh without judgment.
The audience cheers each performer, the comedians support one another, and the whole night feels like hanging out with friends who happen to be hilarious.
Itās the kind of Monday night youāll want to make a tradition.
## š The Venue: The Comedy Pub Vienna
š **Kettenbrückengasse 7, 1050 Vienna**
Nestled in the heart of Viennaās 5th district, *The Comedy Pub* is the cityās only dedicated stand-up comedy club ā a cozy Irish-style bar with warm lighting, a friendly crowd, and the perfect stage for laughter.
š» A full bar with great drinks
š Intimate setting with front-row energy
š A melting pot of locals, expats & travelers
šŖ First come, first seated ā so come early!

Discussion: "How to look upon an exhaling universe?"
***Are there fundamentally different ways of looking at the world?*** *Do different intellectual cultures - such as the arts and the sciences - embody these perspectives? Should they be in greater dialogue, or left to their own devices?*
In this session of **Marginal Thoughts**, we will explore what happens when different intellectual cultures confront the same phenomenon - namely, the cheery prospect of the heat death of the universe. Before expending our breath on these questions, we'll read three short pieces:
* A short story by Ted Chiang: ["Exhalation"](https://on-air.caricomassimo.org/media/pages/airchive/exhalation/392873ce00-1715897949/exhalation-tedchiang.pdf) (alternative: [audio version](https://archive.org/details/ExhalationByTedChiang); \~30 min read)
* An essay by C. P. Snow: ["The Two Cultures"](https://archive.is/HMIMI) (\~20 min)
* A poem by Neil Rollinson: ["Entropy"](https://poetryarchive.org/poem/entropy/) (\~2 min)
In these, Ted Chiang trolls his readers into becoming aware of their own breathing, C. P. Snow leaves both artists and scientists feeling self-consciously uncultured, and Neil Rollinson subtly suggests that poetry doesn't pay well enough to cover energy bills or stave off entropy.
**How to prepare**
Please read all the materials in advance. As you do, try to identify at least one point of curiosity, confusion, or uncertainty - these will be natural starting points for our discussion.
**What to expect**
This is an in-person, conversational meetup in English. The goal isn't to debate, lecture, or "confess" - itās to explore ideas and leave with better questions than we arrived with.
**Optional stuff for the extra curious**
The Ted Chiang story is a part of the collection ["Exhalation: Stories"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exhalation:_Stories). C. P. Snow's "The Two Cultures" was later expanded into a lecture and then a short book ["The Two Cultures and the Scientific Revolution"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Two_Cultures). For those interested in going further, possible follow-ups on entropy include [this short essay](https://www.edge.org/response-detail/27023) by Steven Pinker and [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxL2HoqLbyA) by Veritasium.

Queer Book Club Vienna ā Whoās Afraid of Gender? by Judith Butler

This is a space for collective reading, critical thinking, and community exchange. No academic background neededājust curiosity and openness.
***
## **About the Book**

Sunday Screenings in the Living Room
Weekly screenings from a large archive of many of the most significant, yet seldom seen and rarely accessible cinematic masterpieces in the history of film - from its earliest beginnings to the present day. Screenings are in original language, if English, or original language with English subtitles.
Films are selected democratically on the inspiration of a brief pre-screening discussion. The selected title is typically a "neglected gem" that most of us discover together for the first time. Individual taste is not a criterion and all participants are expected to put the interests of the group as a whole above personal preference or prejudice. In this sense, the emphasis is on openness, exploration, and surprise. Each screening is followed by an in-depth group discussion, led and moderated by the curator.
WARNNG: FilmStory is not just about watching movies! Rather, it's a socially responsible, intellectual engagement, involving an organic approach to group study of film language, philosophy, art, history, politics, and technology. In this sense, the film is always merely the current highlight in an explorative, ongoing group discussion.
**FilmStory** is a members-only series that involves a closely knit community of cinephiles. Events take place every Sunday in a comfortable, private setting with limited capacity. Participation is reserved primarily for regular members, but we're always ready to make new friends!
Non-regular members may request to meet the community and, upon acceptance as a "new joiner," are welcome to participate in one event, according to space availability. New joiners are asked to make a ā¬6 member dues contribution in advance of the requested date. New members receive a message of confirmation and the address of the Living Room in 1080 Vienna upon receipt of their dues contribution.
**FilmStory** is presented and hosted by **[KulturSalon Wien](https://www.meetup.com/kultursalon-wien/)**.

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for April is "Water"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
Sunday Brunch
Sleep in on Sundays. When you've had your fill of pajama-time, roll out and have some tasty brunch with your fellow Humanists!
Prompt vs. Paintbrush
AI is changing how art is made. But when does it stop being your work and start being the machineās?
This month we're going to be doing a panel with with digital image, music, and written word artists, talking about at what point, while using AI in the creation process, does the work become not the artist creation?
We encourage audience participation during this event that will be moderated by Chris Slee.
Whether youāre deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus.

Humanist Program
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online
