We'll be watching *[Werckmeister Harmonies](https://nfa.cz/cs/30354-werckmeisterovy-harmonie-werckmeister-harmoniak?screening=63442),* a 2000 film by the Hungarian director Béla Tarr that portrays the life of János and his uncle György during the communist era in Hungary, and recounts their journey among helpless citizens as a sinister visiting circus casts a shadow over everyone's lives ([Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werckmeister_Harmonies)). Come enjoy this screening and stay for a drink and a chat about the film afterwards!
The film is shown with English subtitles.

Paradise Lost: Books IX-X - The Fall
This session turns to the epicenter of Milton’s poem: temptation, choice, and consequence. In Books IX and X, the Fall finally unfolds, and with it the unraveling of innocence, intimacy, and cosmic order.
We’ll read closely and ask difficult questions. What actually changes in Adam and Eve? Is the Fall a tragedy, a liberation, or something more complicated? Where does responsibility truly lie? And how does Milton want us to judge - or not judge - what happens?
As always, this is a shared inquiry discussion. No lectures, no summaries. Just careful reading, real questions, and collective thinking around the table.
Come ready to wrestle with the text.
Open philosophical discussion in the heart of Prague
Welcome to the international Café Philo in Prague. We meet every first Saturday of the month in the cosy [Café Millème](https://store11473398.ecwid.com) in the center of Prague. We choose a participant randomly, by lottery, who then has the privilege to determine the topic of our discussion. We will reflect, ponder and exchange arguments until our brains are on fire. Philosophy isn't just something for universities, it is a way to open your mind to new thoughts and questions. No application is necessary, there is no entrance fee and there are no prerequisites for participating, except curiosity and respect for other people. We meet from 17:15 until 18:45 to follow together the white rabbit into the wonderland of philosophy...

The afternoon session starts at 2:00 pm. You're welcome to join both sessions or just one. Please come as close to 9:00 as you can if you come for the morning session. If you come to the afternoon session, we are usually back by about a quarter to 2:00.
The Saturday Globe Official 🤩 #1 Social Meetup in Prague
We are an open-hearted, English-speaking tribe of locals, newcomers, and expats.
👉 Join our >>> [PUBLIC WhatsApp group HERE !](https://chat.whatsapp.com/GuBrybKEx0x2aW2BCWGKeM?mode=gi_t) <<<
*(Once you arrive in person, ask for a QR code for exclusive access to our LOCAL WhatsApp community)*
*Deep Topics. Real Connections.*
We skip the superficial and discuss life as it REALLY is. From the chaos of modern dating to the future of society, we dive DEEP into heavy topics. We actively listen and honor diverse worldviews, but leave zero space for BS. For us, genuine connection is the norm, not the exception.
*Professionally Hosted*
This is the official meetup of The Globe Bookstore, an iconic hub for Prague's English-speaking community since 1993. Unlike impersonal, AI-driven mass events (Hello Amelia..), our community is genuinely curated. We have a Host always present, a Hostess to warmly welcome you, and a Photographer to capture the best moments.
Come grab a drink and experience the best of Prague, together!
Saturday running and coffee
Hi All,
Come and join us for social running and a coffee!
We meet at the main gate of Vystaviste - tram stop Vystaviste Holesovice. We will run in Stromovka.
Usually we run around 50mins and it is up to everyone how many kilometres. We welcome all levels of runner. We can all run together or, if there is more of us, we can split into groups and at the end of the run we all meet close to the starting point to go for a coffee to a nice local coffee place (where they also sell cakes and great chocolate). If the weather is great, we can also just sit in one of the outside coffee placces in Stromovka and enjoy the sun.
This is where we meet:

This is for anyone wanting feedback! We mostly focus on novels and longer works, but short stories are welcome, as well. You can submit anything you want feedback on in any genre. Current word limit for submissions is 4,000 words. Send your submissions by 13:30 the Thursday before the meeting (or we have a grace period during which you can submit a lower limit of 2,500 words if you submit by midnight Thursday evening). Also, if you don't have time to read through everyone's submissions, still join the meeting! We know that busy schedules don't always make finding reading time easy.
To submit, use the Dropbox folder. If you don't have access to it, send sonyalakadosch@yahoo.com your e-mail address so I can add you.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there! My number in case of any confusion the day of the meeting is 737 118 530 - or on Facebook: Sonya Lano (https://www.facebook.com/sonya.lano)
DROPBOX INFO:
* add new submissions for the next meeting in the " submissions" folder for the meeting date. Put your name at the beginning of the file name (for example: "Sonya Somewhere in the Dark")
* When providing written feedback (not required, but deeply welcome), save the file as a separate document on your device, then mark your changes/ feedback in the saved file. After you're finished, put the file in the "Feedback" folder under the folder for the meeting date and then under the person the feedback is for (e.g. "For Sonya").
* The submissions folder will be replaced within a week after the meeting has taken place. Feedback will be deleted within 2 months after the meeting, so if you need it longer than that, make sure to copy it to your own disk.

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for March is "Our Bodies, Ourselves"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Our March speakers are Molly Gaines and Zack Parrish, co-organizers of the Secular Education Association:
They will share their story of how a small group of Ohio parents grew into a national organization tracking released-time religious instruction and other church–state issues in public schools. The presentation will cover SEA’s early wins and hard lessons, what we’re seeing nationally right now, and how local advocates can play a meaningful role in protecting public education. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the landscape — and practical ways to get involved.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online

Omnipresent Atheists Weekly Meetup (2nd Tues)
Jimmy V's Grill & Pub in Grandview Heights. You are responsible for your own meal/drinks. We usually don't have any agenda other than eat, drink and talk. :) If the weather is nice we will be on the back patio, otherwise we are in the cigar room.
This group has been meeting every Tuesday evening for over a decade. Many attendees do not RSVP on meetup. Please don't let the small number here discourage you. Anyone/everyone is welcome to come. We'd love to have you join us.
COTA bus #5 comes to W. 5th and Wyandotte Rd. And it's a minute walk to the restaurant.
***
Did you know that there are atheists everywhere?!?! You may not know it, but we are! We're in your schools, diners, police force, military, government, and some are even still in your churches! So come and join us and meet other local atheists, along with agnostics, heathens, humanists, skeptics, and anyone else who's 'hell bound'!
Vision: a Central Ohio that accepts atheism as a viable alternative in all areas of public and private life.
Mission: grow, support, and provide community for atheists in Central Ohio.
Social meetings held most Tuesdays at a local pub/restaurant at 7:00 PM (and often into the wee hours). Attendees call themselves agnostics, skeptics, humanists, non-theists, deists or even theists. All attendees are welcome but should support our vision.
Atheists of Columbus (AoC) is part of Omnipresent Atheists (OA). AoC members are invited to join this OA meetup and/or OA Facebook group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/omnipresentatheists/ ) but are free to continue conversations on the AoC Facebook group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/columbusatheists/ ). AoC was founded in 2012 as a networking, social group for Central Ohio area humanists, skeptics, atheists, agnostics, nonbelievers, freethinkers, and the curious. It was a member of Columbus CoR and held weekly meetings, mostly on Fridays, for several years but then operated as an online only group for some time. In November 2018, Omnipresent Atheists (OA), a group that routinely meets on Tuesdays, invited AoC to merge.
Omnipresent Atheists is a member of the Columbus Coalition of Reason (ColumbusCoR.org). Omnipresent Atheists is a member of the Columbus Coalition of Reason ( http://www.ColumbusCoR.org ). Omnipresent Atheists endorses the mission of the Secular Coalition for America ( http://secular.org ).
