## What weâre about
Buongiorno a tutti. Cerco persone serie e disposte solamente a divertirsi, senza puntare mazzette grazie mille.
Antonio

* 7:15pm - 8:00pm: Viktor Gamov, Principal Developer Advocate, Confluent
* 8:00pm - 8:30pm: Additional Q&A, Drinks, Food and Networking
đĄ **First Speaker:**
Simone Esposito, Team Lead - Software Architect @ Bitrock
**Title of Talk:**
Queues for Kafka (KIP-932)
**Abstract:**
For more than a decade, Apache Kafkaâs consumption model has been governed by a strict rule: one consumer per partition within a consumer group. This limitation has shaped how teams scale their systems, design topics, and plan for peak throughput. With KIP-932, Kafka breaks this long-standing assumption and introduces a fundamentally new capability: queues. Backed by the new concept of share groups, this paradigm shift allows multiple consumers to read concurrently from the same partition.
This talk explores how KIP-932 brings native queueing semantics to Kafka, enabling true work-queue patterns without over-partitioning and greatly simplifying horizontal scaling. Weâll examine how the new message acknowledgment model works, the tradeoffs introduced by cooperative consumption, and how this feature fits alongside, and differs from, traditional Kafka consumer groups.
**Bios:**
**Simone Esposito** is Software Architect & Team Lead at Bitrock. Passionate about computer science, Simone is always excited to test himself with different technologies and learn new things. He has a strong passion for writing code and sharing knowledge with colleagues and peers in the industry. He prefers working with functional programming languages, distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
đĄ **Second Speaker:**
Viktor Gamov, Principal Developer Advocate, Confluent
**Title of Talk:**
The Missing Protocol: How MCP Bridges LLMs and Data Streams
**Abstract:**
Nobodyâs talking about this: MCP isnât just another way to build chatbots. Itâs the bridge weâve been missing between AI reasoning and real-time data systems. Teams build AI applications that work great in demos but fall apart with production data. Your agents analyze historical reports but canât tell whatâs happening in your Kafka streams. Theyâre blind to schema changes and disconnected from events that matter to your business. Instead of treating streaming platforms like black boxes, you expose them directly to your agents via MCP protocol. Suddenly, your AI doesnât just read about dataâit lives inside your data flows. Learn what becomes possible when you stop thinking about AI as an external service and start treating it as part of your streaming architecture. Weâll build systems where agents subscribe to real-time events, reason about evolving schemas, and make decisions that ripple through your data platform.
**Bio:**
Viktor Gamov is a Principal Developer Advocate at Confluent, founded by the original creators of Apache KafkaÂŽ. With a rich background in implementing and advocating for distributed systems and cloud-native architectures, Viktor excels in open-source technologies. He is passionate about assisting architects, developers, and operators in crafting systems that are not only low in latency and scalable but also highly available.
As a Java Champion and an esteemed speaker, Viktor is known for his insightful presentations at top industry events like JavaOne, Devoxx, Kafka Summit, and QCon. His expertise spans distributed systems, real-time data streaming, JVM, and DevOps.
Viktor has co-authored "Enterprise Web Development" from O'Reilly and "Apache KafkaÂŽ in Action" from Manning.

**People Analytics 101: Making Sense of Compensation Data**
Compensation data is one of the most widely used and widely misunderstood forms of people analytics.
The session will cover where compensation data comes from, including market pricing data, internal payroll data, and benchmarking sources, and how companies think about structuring and analyzing that information. We will explore how compensation data is leveraged to set salary ranges, manage internal equity, support hiring and retention, and align pay with business strategy. A portion of the session will address common data challenges and limitations, such as market noise, inconsistent job matching, and incomplete datasets, while keeping the primary focus on practical use rather than technical depth.
The session will also look ahead at where the space is going, including the growing impact of pay transparency laws, expanding pay equity requirements, and emerging regulations in the US and Europe that require organizations to report on gender and pay gaps. The goal is to give attendees a clear mental model for how compensation analytics works today and why getting it right is becoming increasingly critical.
(note: we are back at Rev1 this month!)

### Tools in your AI's Toolbox : An introduction to MCP Servers
The generative AI revolution has unlocked unprecedented capabilities, but the next frontier is agency: empowering models to interact with, query, and act upon the world. The current challenge is the âN x M integration problem,â where every AI model requires a custom, brittle integration for each external tool or data source. This approach simply doesnât scale. How can we give an AI access to our sales leads, code repositories, or IoT devices in a standardized, secure, and reusable way?
This session introduces Anthropicâs Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open-source framework designed to solve this challenge and become the universal connectorâthe USB-C portâfor AI. MCP standardizes how AI models discover and use external tools, moving beyond simple function-calling to a robust, client-server architecture. We will dive into how this open protocol is creating a new ecosystem for building powerful, context-aware AI agents.
Join this session for a developer-focused introduction where you will learn how to:
Understand the core concepts of the open-source Model Context Protocol and its architecture.
Utilize pre-built, open-source MCP servers to instantly connect AI to tools like Git, Slack, and databases.
Build a custom MCP server to securely expose your own proprietary data and APIs as tools for any compliant AI.
Move beyond bespoke integrations and contribute to a standardized, collaborative, and open ecosystem.
Stop building one-off connectors and start building intelligent agents. This session will give you the practical knowledge to leverage MCP and create the next generation of AI that doesnât just talk, but does.

I love my job and one of the main things I do is help customers get going with any of the data technologies at Microsoft. Right now there are a lot of my customers asking about Microsoft Fabric. It's hard to weave across all the shiny new options across the Fabric landscape, let alone figure out where it fits into your organization. In this session we'll focus on answering one question - how can I get data into Fabric? We'll talk through the "it depends" options and see some of the options in live demos.
OWASP is ending use of Meetup, so I built an eventbrite for the event.

AI is transforming how software is designed, developed, and deployed, dramatically accelerating velocity while introducing new categories of risk. As organizations adopt AI-assisted coding, autonomous agents, and increasingly complex model interactions, traditional application security approaches struggle to keep pace. This talk examines emerging AI-driven risks through real case studies from the field, highlighting issues such as insecure code generation, data-leakage pathways, model manipulation, and evolving supply-chain threats. We will explore how engineering teams must adapt their people, processes, and governance models to secure AI-augmented development workflows effectively. The session will then introduce agentic AI as the next evolution in application securityâautonomous systems capable of continuous analysis, multi-step reasoning, and real-time remediation. Attendees will learn how combining agentic AI with modern practices can reduce developer friction, improve coverage, and create a future-ready application security strategy designed for the demands of AI-native software development
