ONLY ONCE A YEAR - the most powerful spiritual moment!
This is a unique opportunity to evolve, to be blessed, to help humanity!
**What**:
The Wesak Festival can be a great opportunity to function as a unity and elevate the entire Earth's consciousness.
**Why**:
On different peaks of the Full Moon when the sun is in Taurus, Lord Buddha was born, achieved illumination and left the body. His energy comes back once a year, at the peak of the Full Moon when the sun is in Taurus, to bring energy and help enlighten us. This makes it a unique moment to gather and become channels of light and love.
**How**:
When we meditate, especially in a group, there's a much higher energy level. This brings down much more energy, which is needed to anchor light, love, and power on Earth. Remember: "let's not only talk about doing something good, but actually act in goodness."
**Where/when**:
1st of May 15:00
• In Brussels:
Av Louise, 505 1000 Brussels
• Online, on Zoom

1er mai 15h00
• Avenue Louise, 505

Spiritual Hike 24km - Satsang & Deep Tea
A Walk Between Worlds:
Villers-la-Ville to Genval
25km with Alan Watts
We’re walking 24km from the abbey ruins of Villers-la-Ville back to Genval, with a reading of Alan Watts along the way. The reading takes the form of a Satsang and Jnana yoga, an invitation to sit with the words, let them resonate, and share what arises in us as we walk together.
The day
09:20 Departure from La Hulpe station, train to Ottignies, then connection to Villers-la-Ville
or from Brussels
09:56 Departure from Bruxelles-Luxembourg (Train IC13609 to Namur)
10:23 Meeting up at Ottignies for the train to Villers-la-Ville (Train S61 4560 to Jambes)
10:40 Arrival in Villers-la-Ville, walk begins
13:00 Lunch break along the route
~17:00 Arrival in Genval
After the walk, you're welcome to come to stop by my place for tea while waiting for the bus (bus stop in front of the house), and to let the conversation continue.
Getting back to Brussels
* Bus 366 at 17:43 (arriving at Flagey 18:10)
* Or last bus at 19:13 (Flagey 19:40)
* Train to Brussels every hour 31 (20min walking distance from the house)
Those who feel for can stay up to sunset (21h02) for a Sahaj Marg 30 min cleansing meditation and jump into the 21h31 train to Brussels.
If you will rather come by car and keep things flexible, you're welcome to park at our place in the morning.
What to bring
Good walking shoes, water, a packed lunch or something for the lunch break, layers for the weather, and an open presence. The walk is long but the pace is contemplative, we’re not racing, we’re listening.
Sketch & Chill 🎨🌿 (TBC🌤️)
What’s up Friends! 👋
If the weather behaves, we’re going for a chill drawing meetup: good vibes, new people, sketching side by side ✨

⏱️ Timing

Once the sketches are done (or we need a break), we might grab a drink if we feel like it.

Day-off session: Multiple games
1st May is a holiday ! So why not having a full afternoon of gaming there on that day ? If you feel likewise, then join this event!
Unlike most of our events, this is a more improvised one : some attendees bring their games, and we decide on the spot what we'll play. You may also post your ideas of what you want to bring/play in the comments, to gauge interest among the participants.
Outpost opens at 11:30, so you may come from that time, but you can also come a bit later if you wish. Because it's Friday, we'll need to vacate the place towards 6 or 7 PM.
**Please RSVP to this event if you wish to come**. Do not come without having done so. It makes it easier to plan that way.
Although you can arrive at any time, **please post your estimated time of arrival in the comments**. It will make it easier to organise the tables that way.
**Don't forget to unsubscribe from the event if you aren't able to come.** Someone else might take your place in that case. Don't block it if you don't come.

**A MESSAGE FOR NEWCOMERS:**
*In the three years of hosting this coffee group, I have met many people who struggle with anxieties when coming to an event for the first time. Sometimes, it took them more than one attempt before being able to join.*
*Occasionally, people reach out to me before the event, and I have always been grateful for that as it offers the opportunity to communicate with each other and to find the best and most gentle way for that person to join the group.*
*I would like to encourage everyone who struggles with this to contact me before. It would really be too bad if you can't join us, as it mostly gets better the second or third time you come.*
*In addition to that, if you arrive and notice any signs of nervousness or fear, you can always let me know right then.*
**THANK YOU AND SEE YOU ALL ON Saturday!**

A couple are constantly buffeted between hope and heartbreak in *A Sad And Beautiful World,* Cyril Aris’s first fiction feature which follows the lovers over three decades as they navigate the legacy of past lives and a Lebanon marked by civil-war. The result is an appealing, soulful romance with a considerable emotional tug, which now plays Red Sea competition following a premiere at Venice (where it shared the People’s Choice award with Vladlena Sandu’s Memory) and extensive festival play. Cinematek : Eat Drink Man Woman
**Cinematek : Eat Drink Man Woman**
03/05 @ 16h30
Ang Lee’s generous, touching Eat Drink Man Woman focuses on master chef Chu and his three daughters (all of them living at home) as they confront seismic changes in their lives. The film is the third instalment in Ang Lee’s family trilogy, known unofficially (and ironically) as the Father Knows Best series, largely because venerable actor Sihung Lung (whom Lee lured out of retirement) played a father in each film. Constructed around a series of all-in family dinners, where each of the characters eventually (very reluctantly) drops a bombshell announcement, Eat Drink hinges on the tension between modernity and tradition, family and personal freedom, and, especially, the necessity of confiding and sharing. With the profound empathy that typifies his best work, Lee drops us into the drama without much explanation and carefully disrupts our assumptions about the characters ― and the narratives they construct about themselves. By the end, no one is exactly who we thought they were at the beginning. It’s driven by a formidable cast, including Yang Kuei-Mei as Jia-Jen, the eldest daughter and a devout Christian; Wu Chien-Lien as airline executive Jia-Chien (who has the most problematic relationship with her father); Yu-Wen Wang as the youngest daughter Jia-Ning; and legendary actor director Sylvia Chan as Jia-Jen’s best friend Jin-Rong. Warning: plan for a late meal. Lee’s masterful montages of Chu and Jia-Chien cooking are as mouthwatering and hunger-inducing as the noodles in Jûzô Itami’s Tampopo.

Climb & Chill 🧗♂️☕️
What's up Friends! 👋
Ready for some bouldering fun? Boulder-what? 🤔 It’s climbing (FR: escalade, le bloc) up to 4.5m high without ropes—and in my case, without much hope! 😂✨
It’s a super fun indoor activity, but be warned: it does require a certain level of physical fitness and/or skill. Most importantly, though, it requires awesome company—which we’ve got! 😎
The Idea:
📍 Meeting Point: For those arriving at 17:00, we’ll meet at the cafeteria (next to the billiards table).
Feel free to start earlier or later—just drop me a message or write in the group chat so we can meet up.
💪 Stay & climb as long as you want - venue closes at midnight!
🥤 Recharge: If you’ve had enough climbing for the day (we usually do this after 2 hours of climbing), we may head back to the cafeteria (or to the rooftop if it's sunny🌤️) for snacks, drinks & games. Cafeteria closes at 22:00.

Choose Your Movie: THE SHEEP DETECTIVES vs HOKUM at Cinemark Stoneridge!
Join us as we get together to see your choice of two VERY different movies – one sweet and wholesome – the other a terrifying folklore horror! Option 1 is the fun whodunnit-action-comedy-mystery led by Hugh Jackman, THE SHEEP DETECTIVES! Option 2 is the top-reviewed supernatural-horror-thriller starring Adam Scott, HOKUM! Here’s a description, trailer and plan for this event:
THE SHEEP DETECTIVES: Every night a shepherd reads aloud a murder mystery, pretending his sheep can understand. When he is found dead, the sheep realize at once that it was a murder and think they know everything about how to go about solving it. The film is directed by Kyle Balda and take a look at this ensemble cast: Hugh Jackman, Nicholas Braun, Molly Gordon, Hong Chau and Emma Thompson and the voices of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O'Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, Brett Goldstein and Rhys Darby. TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyZI5oM6hWk
HOKUM: In this film, a horror writer visits an Irish inn to scatter his parents' ashes, unaware the property is said to be haunted by a witch. It is written/directed by Damian McCarthy stars Adam Scott, Peter Coonan, David Wilmot, Florence Ordesh and Austin Amelio. Hokum premiered to rave reviews at this year’s SXSW Festival and is being release by Neon. It is earning a stellar 97% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which calls it, “A classic haunted house story enriched with atmospheric folklore and perfectly-timed shocks!” TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVCIK_MPyhc
PLAN: We’ll plan for a 7pm-ish showing of both films and will meet inside the theater lobby about 20 minutes before showtime. If the showtimes work out, we’ll try to get both groups together for a bite before the shows! Complete details and showtime will be confirmed/announced as the date gets closer.
Look forward to seeing you there, Dan
CMG Gives Back: Serve Brunch at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!
Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event:
FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces.
PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.
LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details:
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1
week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to all of YOU for volunteering at this (and any of our previous) CMG Gives Back events!
Should be another good/fun/meaningful time together, Dan
